Darcy Moul 4720 Tara Court requested to speak and expressed concern that larger vehicles are <br /> louder. He also read information from the US Department of Roads regarding other safety <br /> measures and stated that rumble bars are a last resort and questioned if a flashing light <br /> wouldn't serve the same purpose. He also noted the signed statement that was submitted to <br /> the board. <br /> Allen Svitak 4719 Tara Court has lived there 13 years and stated he would like to see flashing <br /> lights installed. <br /> Richardson stated it seems unfair that they were put in they do work but it seems that they could <br /> do something less intrusive. She thinks flashing lights would be the best and would like to see <br /> something that does not make noise. <br /> Arnold expressed concern on the engineering study and noted there were only 3 accidents. <br /> Schuppan noted that this proposal could reduce the noise and he would like to try it. <br /> Purdy stated that modifying the bars would be a reasonable plan and he would like to try it. <br /> NIRMA does not want to see them removed since they have been installed. <br /> Lanfear expressed concern on the rumble bars and does not think they are justified. <br /> Casey noted that there are 1200 cars a day. <br /> Lancaster questioned the installation and the removal of the bars and what would be involved. <br /> Casey stated that they have a machine that they can use to remove and it would take 2 days of <br /> labor. She also expressed concern on the letter from NIRMA. She questioned if the overhead <br /> light would resolve this issue. <br /> Casey stated he can get the light but a pole would have to be installed. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Quandt seconded to gather the information regarding the costs. <br /> Arnold stated he would like to know what kind of accidents occurred. He researched the issue. <br /> Richardson stated that she thought there was a fatality in Merrick County. She requested to <br /> amend the motion to not replace the rumble bars and come back with cost estimates. <br /> Lancaster stated she was not willing to consider that, the expense could be an issue. <br /> Lanfear stated there should be relief now and suggested to put the gap in the rumble bars. <br /> Casey stated they have the equipment to do that change. <br /> Lancaster called for the question. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and <br /> Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Richardson seconded to remove a strip down the middle of the <br /> rumble bars. Then get feedback from the residents. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, <br /> Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 5 <br />
