• There was 12% increase wage increase on each step plan and there will be a 11% <br /> increase the following year in order to reach the comparable wages in the metropolitan <br /> statistical areas <br /> The uniform allowance was discussed but no decision was reached and it may be addressed <br /> during the next negotiations year. <br /> Mr. Janulewicz stated that his recommendation and the committee's recommendation is to <br /> approve the agreement. <br /> Ms. Lancaster stated that the committee recommends approving the agreement and she <br /> thanked Sheriff Jerry Watson and Chief Deputy Chris Rea for their work. Mr. Rea thanked the <br /> committee and stated he appreciated the wage increases they have seen the pool of applicants <br /> become stagnant and this is the best contract he has seen. <br /> The vote on the motion to approve the FOP #10 agreement was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, <br /> Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br /> carried. The chair will need to sign the agreements. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEY <br /> 7A) DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN HALL <br /> COUNTY AND GRAND ISLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS REGARDING SCHOOL INTERVENTION <br /> PROGRAM — County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf stated they received a grant from the crime <br /> commission for the school intervention program and the county will administer the funds as the <br /> fiscal agent. This all ties in with the juvenile diversion program. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Schuppan seconded to approve the agreement and authorize the <br /> chair to sign. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 7B) DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION APPOINTING VALENTINO LAW OFFICES TO <br /> REPRESENT HALL COUNTY IN A LAWSUIT BROUGHT BY A PRISONER REQUESTING <br /> INJUNCTIVE RELIEF IN FEDERAL DISTRICT COURT -Mr. Zitterkopf stated that this is <br /> regarding an inmate who has filed a law suit in federal court. He does not have an attorney <br /> representing him. This is regarding a complaint that he filed at the County Jail and he does not <br /> like the way the complaints are handled. He is asking for monetary damages. NIRMA will not <br /> represent the county for the law suit. He does not practice in federal court and he is requesting <br /> an attorney to do so. He talked to Mr. Valentino yesterday and this is the agreement for the <br /> legal services his fee is $179.00 an hour and other fees as stated. <br /> He is requesting a motion to approve the agreement and authorize the chair to sign. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Lanfear seconded to approve the agreement and authorize the <br /> chair to sign. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> RECOMMENDATION REGARDING THE BID OPENING FOR COURTHOUSE HVAC - Mr. <br /> Humphrey stated that the committee and Mr., Jackson reviewed he bid and recommended to <br /> approve and accept the bid from Mid Plains Construction. <br /> Mr. Arnold asked what was budgeted and there is $1.9 million before the renovation on the <br /> bathrooms and moving the chiller. <br /> 6 <br />
