Ms. Lancaster explained that 2% <br /> goes to CVB for the day to day operations and the additional 2% is for brick and mortar <br /> Mr. McFarland stated he received an update on the Federal Building and Mr. Rothmeier stated <br /> he hopes to have a response back on the recommendation to make the building available by the <br /> end of next week. <br /> 7. INTERVIEW CANDIDATES FOR REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION VACANCY <br /> Leonard J. Rainforth, 7387 West Rosedale Road Doniphan, Nebraska stated that he is a <br /> lifelong resident of Hall County and was employed by New Holland Case IH. He currently helps <br /> his son farm. He stated that he applied for the positon because he wants to see the county <br /> continue economic development and housing development and encourage new business to <br /> help the tax base. If there is more property development the community will grow. <br /> He stated that his experience is basically common sense. It is important to not bring in <br /> something that does not fit and you have to consider the surrounding properties. He also has <br /> an associate's degree in business. He stated that the role should be advisory and they should <br /> look at the proposal and make sure they are correct and financially relevant. <br /> Greg Robb, 327 Amick Avenue, Doniphan, Nebraska. He stated his family has been here for <br /> generations and he wants to give something back to the community. He owns a couple of <br /> business and feels that he can make a contribution to the commission. <br /> He has had experience working with Hall County Emergency Planning and had a good <br /> relationship and has worked on some issue because of his business. When issues come <br /> forward it is important to consider the adjacent land owners. When there is a direction and a <br /> plan that development will build the tax base and not affect other businesses. <br /> Lancaster noted that that are both committed and can contribute to the commission. <br /> 8. DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION REGARDING APPOINTMENT TO REGIONAL PLANNING <br /> COMMISSION Chairman McFarland called for a motion to make the appointment. <br /> Purdy made a motion and Ziola seconded to appoint Gregg Robb to the Regional Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> Mr. Arnold stated that the board could not go wrong today with either one of them and he stated <br /> he appreciated that they came forward and applied. <br /> Mr. Schuppan stated that he was going to abstain from the vote. <br /> The vote on the motion was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt and Ziola all <br /> voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. Schuppan abstained. <br /> Held a 5 minute break <br /> 10.
