Mr. Purdy noted that in the facilities committee minutes this was discussed and it was not <br /> approved. He also noted that Mr. Shuda had parked his pickup and trailer in the lot and it took <br /> up numerous parking spaces. Lancaster noted that this issue had not come to the full board for <br /> consideration and action. <br /> Schuppan noted that parking may be difficult with the courthouse issues and questioned if this <br /> could be deferred until later. <br /> Arnold noted that he had worked in that building for 25 years and found parking and doesn't feel <br /> that this is a critical need at this point. <br /> County Treasurer Peg Pesek requested to address the board. She stated that she had 3 <br /> employees approach her this morning after the article in the paper. There are days when this <br /> parking lot is full and there isn't parking and why shouldn't they have designated parking. She <br /> agrees that all employees should be treated equally. Discussion was held on the parking ramp <br /> but it is by permit only. <br /> The vote on the motion for the designated parking was taken. Lancaster and Quandt voted yes <br /> and Arnold, McFarland, Purdy, Schuppan and Ziola all voted no. Conley 'all County CIT <br /> 2) DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION SUE GUGEL, PROBATION PROG S AND <br /> UPDATE - Sue Gugel, Julie Micek, Probation Program and Service Specialist and Susan <br /> Huber, Reporting Center Coordinator- Kearney were present. <br /> It was reported that the Probation office hopes to be at full staff by the end of October. <br /> Supply programming is at a limited capacity due to the limited space available for the services <br /> that need to be provided. They need a place for the location of their staff. <br /> Arnold asked if any reporting centers for the State Probation Services are located away from the <br /> court campus area. The representatives mention that both Norfolk and Columbus have <br /> separate centers away from the court houses. <br /> Sue noted that Grand Island has a total of 33 employees in Grand Island and 5,000 sq ft <br /> between the two buildings and she would like to see 10,000 feet or more to accommodate both <br /> the employees and clients and give them some private areas away from other clients to properly <br /> operate the system. They are currently serving 83 juveniles and 450 adults. <br /> Dave Ziola asked how important it is to remain in the governmental center. Loren Humphrey; <br /> Building Superintendent noted that 7,200 sq feet is the correct amount of office space currently <br /> provided, following a reassessment from an earlier report. Sue noted that Judge Livingston who <br /> was not personally able to attend, has instructed them that they need a definite date and a place <br /> to occupy. No action was taken. <br /> 8 <br />
