<br />, <br />.- <br /> <br />q B r- ,:( 3..3 <br /> <br />an infrastructure already in place, including an existing <br />terminal or classification rail yard, a system of roads, <br />sewage, and electrical sy~tems, and certain readily usable <br />buildings and improvements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a concept has been proposed whereby the <br />property known as the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant <br />located in Hall County, Nebraska, could be acquired from the <br />United States Army for a nominal consideration for the <br />purpose of developing such property into an efficient and <br />competitive transportation center of national significance <br />to assist the people, the government, and the industries of <br />the United States in addressing the aforesaid recognized <br />national transportation needs, while contemporaneously <br />promoting the economic growth and productivity of the State <br />of Nebraska; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the centrally located <br />motor carrier, railway car, and aircraft facilities would <br />require a large workforce providing many jobs and putting a <br />very large amount of money into circulation in the central <br />U.s. which will improve and stabilize the economy of this <br />vicinity; <br /> <br />;b <br /> <br />'.\1 <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of <br />Supervisors of Hall County, Nebraska, that we endorse the <br />application for funds to conduct a study to determine if <br />development of a Midcontinent International Transportation <br />Center is feasible at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, <br />subject however to continuing responsibility by the United <br />States Army for the cleanup and removal of any environmental <br />contamination which may have occurred on said premises prior <br />to transfer thereof. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we encourage the county <br />boards of otQer surrounding counties to unite with us, in <br />urging our Governor, our Nebraska state senators, our United <br />States Congressional representatives from Nebraska, and our <br />United States Senators from Nebraska to mount and coordinate <br />a campaign for the acquisition of the Cornhusker Army . <br />Ammunition Plant by the Hall County Re-Use Committee for its <br />development. <br /> <br /> <br />Dated this d?1 <br /> <br /> <br />1993. <br /> <br />~~~- <br /> <br />Richard Frauen - absent <br /> <br />Richard Hartman - absent <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~_: '.~ <br />Hal~Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />
