Interviews had <br />been held last week with top four applicants. <br />Motion by Landis, seconded by Frauen to appoint William Bean as Hall County <br />Weed Control Superintendent at salary of $22,500.00 annually, effective July <br />1, 1993. Abernethy, Frauen, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt and Stelk voted <br />yes, none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Discussion on Weed Superintendent and his Assistant helping in other depart- <br />ments during winter months. Chairman to appoint a committee to look into <br />the coordination of county departments. <br /> <br />Discussion on trucks. parking for driver's testing. <br />Deb Obermiller and Eldon Maxon from Driver's Testing station were present. <br />They are to meet with Diane Kelly and City Police Chief Watson next week and <br />will return with information from that meeting. County Board members suggested <br />some alternate sites for truck parking for the testing. <br /> <br />10:00 A.M. PUBLIC HEARING: to receive comments from the public as to whether <br />to discontinue the elected office of the Hall County Superintendent of School <br />upon the expiration of the current term of office, January, 1995. <br />Affidavit of publication was read as published in Grand Island Indep~ndent, <br />Cairo Record, Doniphan Herald and Wood River Sunbeam. <br />Clyde Colman, Superintendent of Schools, 8 residents and 3 news media <br />representatives were present. <br /> <br />Those speaking were Margaret Christensen, Teacher with AIda School; Lee Van- <br />Boening, representing School Board of Grand Island Christian School; Mary Ann. <br />Gerdes, teacher District #16; Marge Schroeder, Grand Island Christian School <br />and Clyde Colman, Superintendent of Schools. <br />Comments related to "What services are presently received by the Class I <br />schools and compare to what they will receive under the new programti. <br />Supervisor Landis stated committee had met with Glen.Larsen, Adams Central <br />School Superintendent who handles the Adams County Program and committee felt <br />was a ve!y good program. <br /> <br />Public Hearing was closed' at 10:32 A.M. <br />Supervisor Landis stated ~f there are any questions or comments following this- <br />hearing, send them in writing to Board Assistaht Ellen Merrill and they will <br />be researched and answered. <br /> <br />Short recess was called. <br /> <br />Returned to regular session. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> <br />1.
