She checked with 10 counties <br />Adams, Clay, Gage, Howard, Jefferson, Kearney, Lincoln, Seward York and ' <br />Merrick. 9 counties have taken action to adjust, Merrick County had not. <br />Board members requested Pelland to call Lancaster, Douglas & Sarpy Counties. <br />County Assessor Pelland reported on personal property late filing notices. <br />Have sent out 285 taxpayer letters, 10% penalty after May 2nd and 50% penalty <br />after May 20th. <br /> <br />Motion <br />Office <br />Quandt <br /> <br />by Quandt, seconded by Abernethy to accept and place on file the County <br />reports as presented. Abernethy, Frauen, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, <br />and Stelk voted yes, none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />County Court, fees collected & remitted for April $44,462.62 <br />Communications-Civil Defense Dept report for March <br />County Sheriff, fees earned for January 1994 <br />County Sheriff, fees earned for February 1994 <br /> <br />$ 8,972.34 <br />$ 7,892.07 <br /> <br />Ellen Merrill, County Board Assistant gave weekly report: <br />(1) need to place ad for advisory committee for ADA <br />Motion by Quandt, seconded by Stelk to authorize Board Assistant to place ad <br />for Advisory Committee members. Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt <br />and Stelk voted yes, Frauen voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />(2) Company that bid on law books stated their policy is to pay 1/2 <br />on bid acceptance and other 1/2 payment after receive books. <br />Motion by Abernethy, seconded by Stelk to follow the policy of the company <br />who bid on books and accept 1/2 payment to ship the books and 1/2 payment <br />afte.r they receive the books. Abernethy, Frauen, Landis, Leslie, Quandt and <br />Stelk voted yes, Hartman voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />(2) Should she place advertisement for position on Housing Authority Board, <br />Health Department and Veterans Service Committee. <br />Motion by Quandt, seconded by Frauen to advertise for Health Department board. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt and Stelk voted yes, Frauen voted <br />no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />(3) Should letter be sent to Adams, Buffalo, Hall and York officials <br />in regard to Juvenile detention center. <br />Motion by Quandt, seconded by Landis to sen4 letter to County Boards in Adams, <br />Buffalo, Hall and York in regard to meeting on detention center, also include <br />Sheriffs, and County Judges. Abernethy, Frauen, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, <br />Quandt and Stelk voted yes, none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />(4) Questioned ground work for preparation of budget. <br />Motion by Landis, seconded by Frauen to authorize Board Assistant to purchase <br />computer for budget use. Abernethy, Frauen, Hartman, Landis, Leslie, Quandt <br />and Stelk voted yes, none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> <br />1. Letter from Senator Dan Fisher in reply to letter of April 19th, outlining <br />garbage dumping problems. <br /> <br />2. Jack Mills, Nebraska Association of County Officials announcing the <br />new staff members for NIRMA Insurance, Dan Cox as Risk Manager and <br />Jason Clancy as Loss Control Specialist. <br /> <br />3. Notice from NACO to Assessor and County Board of Equalization of video <br />conference regarding properj:y valuations levels t"o be presented at several <br />sites on M~y 12, ~994 at 7:00 p.m. One location is Grand Island College <br />Park. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Landis reported on Reuse committee meeting. <br /> <br />Quandt reported on Weed Control Authority Board meeting held last night. <br />blacktopping of parking lot has been finished, Predator Control fund at Weed <br />office. He also attended the Industrial Foundation meeting. <br />
