Whenever any contract is to be let for erecting, furnishing, or repairing any county buildi~g, <br />bridge highway or other public structure or improvement, the successful bidder shall furnIsh <br />the co~nty with ~ suffICient bond for the payment of all laborers and mechanics for labor that is <br />perfonned and for the payment of material and equipment rental which is actually used or <br />rented in the performance of the contract unless the total cost of the project is less than five <br />thousand dollars ($5,000). <br /> <br />3.
