4). Provide positive and suppartive communication be#ween Veterans programs and school <br /> and civic events. <br /> a). Hall County Nebraska encourages the Youth of today to become more involved with <br /> veterans of our nation so that they may learn and appreciate the sacrifices our <br /> military has endured to insure the freedoms we so enjoy. <br /> b). Provides for nursing scholarships through the American Legion programs for high <br /> School Students <br /> c). Provide for Junior Law Cadets through the American Legion programs for High <br /> school students <br /> 5). Assist the Veterans Home with grant and donation enterprises to support the Home's long <br /> Term�oals and Veterans service functions. <br /> a) Members of the Hall County Board of Supervisars participate in visiting the <br /> members of the Veterans Home as well as the Veterans Hospital <br /> b) Hall County is dedicated to writing letters of support needed for any grants <br /> relating to the Grand Island Veterans Home <br /> c). Referrals are made on a regular basis for donations of clothing and household <br /> goods to be made to the Grand 151and Veterans Home for needy Veterans <br /> 6). Provide positive community relationship building programs to serve Veterans, spouses of <br /> Veterans and Gold Star parents. <br /> a). Members of the Hall County Board of Supervisors participate in veterans programs <br /> honoring veterans, social functians and activities within the Grand Island Veterans <br /> Home and Veterans Administration Medical Center <br /> b). Hall County is committed td serving and supporting our veterans. There are many <br /> programs throughout the year in which we honor our veterans, from County Board <br /> meetings to community events such as the Memorial Day Pragram in which <br /> hundreds of people attend. <br /> c). Continued support of the Hall County Veterans Memorial Park (adjacent to the <br /> Grand Island Veterans Home property. <br /> d). Renaming of Capital Avenue to now be "Veteran5 Memarial Avenue" recognizing <br /> and honoring those "who have 5erved" <br /> e). Widening of Veterans Memorial Avenue to four lane traffic with turning lanes for <br /> easy entrance and access to the Grand Island Veterans Home and Veterans Home <br /> Cemetery <br /> f). Assist veterans and their family members in applying for County, State and Federal <br /> benefits <br /> g). The Hall County Board of Supervisors has approved a contract agreement with <br /> Howard, Nance and Sherman Counties in providing service5 to the Veterans and <br /> family members of those counties <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br />
