Abernethy explained that the legislature requires counties to attempt to consolidate offices and services under the passage of LB 1085. This had to be accomplished by December 30, 1997. The audit committee consisting of Irene Abernethy, Pam Lancaster, Margaret Landis, Huey Long, Brad Fegley and Jerry Janulewicz complied the report. The minutes of the meetings are included in the report. The report will be submitted to the state before December 30. Landis made a motion and Quandt seconded to close the public hearing. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. Landis made a motion and Quandt seconded to accept and place on file the Report on Reduction of Property Taxes Through consolidation of County Offices and Services. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. TORT CLAIMS FOR EARL MITCHELL: The two tort claims were received by Hall County and referred to the insurance company and they have investigated the claims. The insurance company recommended to deny both claims. Landis made a motion and Quandt seconded to deny the two tort claims from Earl Mitchell. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. REVIEW TRUELL CONTRACT: There has been a decline in the number of cases handled under the contract and it needs to be reviewed. Jerry Janulewicz talked to Jim Truell and he agreed to renegotiate. Landis made a motion and Quandt seconded to have Jerry Janulewicz work with Jim Truell to renegotiate the contract. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Landis made a motion and Quandt seconded to refer the bids to the Public Works Committee and Public Works Director. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. The committee will meet today to review the bids.
