Why didn't
they look at a remote site?

Jim Leschinsky, 8751 North Sty Paul Road, stated he is on the
rural fire board and wanted to know who would care for the
prison. What would the cost be to provide utilities to the site
and what other costs would there be for Hall County people.

Bob Siemers, 5776 West Abbott Road, state he has lived here all
his life and has seen a lot happen but doesn't was this pushed on
Hall County. Do we need these 400 jobs? This is a beautiful
area and industry would have a better following than a prison.

Robert Jones wanted to add that every prison has a drug problem
what will this do to our city and schools?

Fred Whitesides, 507 West Charles, state he is the chair of the
public meetings committee. All of the facts need to be known,
'good and bad. There will be public meetings for two weeks
and these will be done the second week of September. Meetings
will be held in AIda, Cairo, Doniphan and Wood River. Hartman
questioned what it would cost to purchase the ground because the
land will need to be donated and the property must have utilities,
Lancaster stated she is the Chair of the site committee and they
hope to have 5 possible sites. No decision has been made. The
committee is working on the costs involved. Landis stated we
have a problem with fire protection now and wanted to know how
this can be completed by the end of September. She stated she
visited with a public relations person from Huntsville, Texas,
and asked him about salaries. This project will affect all of
Hall County and the schools. The public meetings will be held to
inform the people.

10:35 a.m. Lancaster made a motion and Stelk seconded to go into a
Board of Corrections meeting. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis,
Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no.
