<br />91~- /~3P <br /> <br />REVIEW COUNTY OFFICES THAT GIVE QUARTERLY REPORTS: Abernethy <br />reported on the agencies that receive funds from the County. She <br />will have Lisa type a form and distribute to the board members <br />for the April 29 meeting and they can decide the type of report <br />they would like. <br /> <br />COMPUTER REPORT FOR ELECTION COMMISS-IONERS OFFICE: Mary Kay Shay, <br />election commissioner, reported that her current computer is at <br />capacity. The State of Nebraska is looking at a state wide voter <br />registration system and there is one company that has a program <br />that would be compatible. The software cost would be about <br />$38,700.00 and the hardware would be from $15;000.00 to $19,000.00. <br />The computer committee stated that there are some funds available. <br />Landis made a motion and Stelk secbnded to proceed with the s2ecifications <br />and to take bids for this computer system. Abernethy, Hartman, <br />Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none <br />voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />Chief Deputy, James Castleberry requested to speak to the Board. <br />He stated he will answer any questions concerning the investigation. <br />He requested permission from the Board to proceed with hiring a <br />replacement deputy. He explained the process to. obtain certification <br />for deputies. The board told Deputy Castleberry to proceed. <br /> <br />EMERGENCY ADDITION TO AGENDA: Quandt made a motion and Hartman seconded <br />to add an emergency executive session to the agenda. This session <br />will be held Thursday, April 24, at 9:00 a.m. Abernethy, Hartman, <br />Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none <br />voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS: Abernethy read a letter from Boys Town. She will <br />write the letter to respond and return to the board next week for <br />their approval. <br /> <br />BOARD SECRETARY'S REPORT: Lisa Hagen, board secretary, provided the <br />board members with her progress report. She received a letter <br />from the U.S. Department of Commerce concerning census maps. This <br />letter will be forwarded to the Regional Planning Commission. The <br />letter from Carol Loschen concerning the bank of volunteers will <br />be held until the applications are all received. The Keno applications <br />will all be held until May 31. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBERS REPORTS: <br /> <br /> <br />Stelk - She attended the tower meeting, Convention and Vistors Bureau <br />meeting and gave information on the Morman Trail event to be held <br />May 5, the 125th anniversary of Grand Island, the Cornhusker games <br />on July 6 and the Grand Island Women's Club tour. Wednesday there <br />will be interviews for the Health Director. <br /> <br />Quandt - The vending committee will report on April 29. <br /> <br />Landis - Copies of the tower meeting report are in the board members <br />boxes. <br /> <br />Hartman - None. <br /> <br />Lancaster - She reported the Midland Area Agency on Aging worked on a <br />grant and mentioned that this area is the top bird watching area in <br />the world. She stated Senator Hagel will be here for a dinner May 3. <br /> <br />Abernethy - She attended Head Start meeting and minutes are available. <br />She reminded the audit committee of the meeting April 29 at 1:30 p.m. <br />" <br /> <br />Long - He attended CNCS meeting and spoke at the Optimists Club. He <br />also attended the Museum Board meeting. <br /> <br />Quandt requested that the Computer Committee check on the computer <br />problems in the Sheriff's office. <br /> <br />NEW AND UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The NACO Legislative Day will be held <br />May 1. Abernethy and Long will be attending. <br />
