Abernethy made a motion <br />and Stelk seconded to approve and sign the resolution. Abernethy, <br />Lancaster, Long and Stelk all voted yes. Landis abstained and <br />Quandt and Hartman voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION # q 70 tJCJ.s' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The National Associaton of Counties (NACo) is the <br />organization representing county go~ernments in the United States, <br />NACo's goals are to assist and improve county governments through <br />education and sharing of information, and NACo acts as a liaison with <br />other levels of government, speaks nationally on behalf of counties, <br />and advances public understanding of the role of counties, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Buffalo County Supervisor Timothy Loewenstein, Chairman <br />of the Buffalo County Board, has announced his candidacy for the <br />positon of first vice president of the National Association of Counties, <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Supervisor Loewenstein, in his service as a county <br />supervisor since 1990, and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors since <br />1995, has distinquished himself by developing exceptional expertise in <br />the areas of technology, private and public interests involving welfare <br />reform without compromising investments in children, telecommunications, <br />maximizing costs of county services, judicial procedural reform and <br />property tax equalization and assessment reform, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Supervisor Loewenstein has served on numerous boards and <br />committees, including NACO IT, Chairman of the Buffalo County Local <br />Emergency Planning Committee, South Central counseling Board of <br />Directors, Central Community College Advisory Board, Nebraska Technology <br />Committee, Senior Hospitality Center Board of Directors and the Chamber <br />of Commerce, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the election of Supervisor Loewenstein to the position of <br />first vice president of NACo and ultimately NACo President would greatly <br />benefit all Nebraska counties and their residents. <br /> <br />...." <br /> <br />
