Motion carried. <br /> <br />CONSIDER AND APPROVE REQUEST OF THE Hall COUNTY HISTORICAL <br />SOCIETY REGARDING KENO GRANT FUNDS: John Amick, 410 Amick Avenue, <br />Doniphan, Nebraska, representing the Hall County Historical <br />Society requested to obtain the budgeted keno funds of <br />$25,000.00. In the original keno request they were to receive <br />$5,000.00 outright for the purchase price then the additional <br />funds later. The Historical Society is applying for a T21 grant <br />for the restoration. Deputy County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz <br />stated he did not have a problem releasing the funds. Stelk <br />stated she felt this was a very good project. Stelk made a <br />motion and Lancaster seconded to fund the full $25,000.00 for the <br />purchase of the depot. Arnold, Hartman, Lancaster, Long, Quandt <br />and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no with Landis absent. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Long made a motion and Stelk seconded to approve Resolution <br />#98-0074 to support the restoration of the depot. Arnold, <br />Hartman, Lancaster, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none <br />voted no with Landis absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION# q ~ -00'1 k\ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Board of Supervisors desires to encourage the <br />preservation of history in Hall County, Nebraska; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Historical Society has undertaken the task of <br />purchasing the Old Burlington Depot, located at 603 N. Plum St., from the Burlington <br />Northern and Santa Fe railroad for purposes of preserving and restoring the depot; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Board of Supervisors has allocated and approved a <br />grant of $25,000.00 in county keno funds to the Hall County Historical Society for use in <br />the purchase and preservation of the Old Burlington Depot in Grand Island; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Historical Society has submitted an application for <br />funds from the Nebraska Department of Roads under the TEA-21 program for use in the <br />restoration of the Old Burlington Depot in Grand Island, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Board of Supervisors believes that preservation of <br />the Old Burlington Depot will further not only the preservation of an historic landmark, <br />but also contribute to the economic development and improvement of downtown Grand <br />Island; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hall County Historical Society has requested the Hall County <br />Board of Supervisors to sponsor the project for purposes of submitting grant applications; <br /> <br />1 <br />1 <br />i <br />I <br />N <br />f <br />1 <br />I <br />J <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />i <br />i <br />~ <br />
