<br />9 ~ {:'~Ocpl(t~ <br /> <br />Jack Niemoth requested to address the county board to clarify a <br />few things. Question were raised on the deposit of receipts from <br />the weed department and he stated that they were advised by the <br />auditors to make monthly deposits. He also stated that the <br />executive session of the weed board meeting was held the way they <br />usually do it. Mr. Niemoth stated it is a good weed board and a <br />good department. The weed board wanted to try the part-time <br />position for the secretary and they discussed various ways to <br />handle the phone calls when the superintendent and other help is <br /> <br />out of the office. The board thanked Jack for stepping in to <br />cover the vacancy. The vote on the motion to authorize the Weed <br />Board to hire a full-time secretary and a full-time sprayer was <br />taken. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and <br />Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Bill Dibbern stated that during the interviews the salary for the <br />weed superintendent position was quoted at $28,000.00 and he felt <br />there should have been a probation period and then an increase in <br />the salary. The county hand book states that all new hires are <br />on a 6-month probation period with an evaluation at the end of <br />the 6 months. <br /> <br />11:00 A.M. PUBLIC HEARING ON WINGS RESTAURANT: Lancaster made a <br />motion and Abernethy seconded to open the public hearing. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Hartman called for comment concerning the application for the <br />liquor license for Mary P.Waters dba Wing's Restaurant and Lounge <br />and no one responded. <br /> <br />Lancaster made a motion and Long seconded to close the public <br />hearing for the liquor license. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, <br />Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve the liquor <br />license for Mary P. Waters dba Wings Restaurant and Lounge. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />HOWARD MAXON - NEW TELEPHONE CABLE TO CITY COUNTY SAFETY CENTER: <br />Howard Maxon was notified by U.S. West that the existing <br />telephone cable has been crushed by the settling of the building <br />and is subject to water seepage in the conduit that is causing <br />problems with the phone lines. Rick Stepanek with building and <br />grounds stated that this matter needs to be addressed as soon as <br />possible. Rick stated that Hall County would need to remove the <br />concrete to the right-of-way then the new cable could be run. <br />The cost of the project would be $5,976.00. Abernethy made a <br />motion and Lancaster seconded to call this an emergency and the <br />cost would be paid out of the inheritance fund and instructed <br />Rick to obtain three informal bids and proceed with the repairs. <br />Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all <br />voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br />
