<br />9 1 K b~~l.oL{ <br />b!SCUSSION EMERGENCY GENERATOR FOR NEW COMMUNICATIONS TOWER: <br />Howard Maxon sent the board members a memo concerning the old <br />generator that was in city hall asking if the county board would <br />like to use the generator for the new communications tower. Mr. <br />Maxon was instructed to check on the costs involved and bring it <br />back to the board at the next meeting. <br /> <br />SHERIFF PERKINS UPDATE - COURT OVERTIME AND SEAT-BELT CHILD <br />RESTRAINT ENFORCEMENT: Sheriff Perkins stated he had attended a <br />seminar on community policing and preventing crime. The <br />department will be participating in the Buckle Up America and <br />Child Restraint program from November 23 to November 29. Deputy <br />John Hinkle has been trained in the child restraint and air bag <br />safety for children and will check the installation of child <br />restraint systems to see if they are properly installed. Sheriff <br />Perkins stated he sent a letter to Dave Barber concerning the 5 <br />acre tracts of land. He invited the board members to an open <br />house on November 4, some of the staff will receive service <br />awards at that meeting. Perkins reported that the department is <br />trying to cut down the amount of court overtime. They contract <br />the courts at 4:30 p.m. the day before and at 9:00 a.m. the next <br />morning to be sure the case is to be heard. This has helped <br />eliminate some overtime costs. <br /> <br />ACCEPT AND PLACE ON FILE THE KENO AUDIT: Abernethy made a motion <br />and Lancaster seconded to accept and place on file the keno <br />audit. Abernethy, Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and <br />Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />ACCEPT RESIGNATION FROM COUNTY SUPERVISOR: The letter of <br />resignation form Irene Abernethy was read by County Clerk Marla <br />Conley. Abernethy stated that the chair would need to appoint <br />some one to the committees that she had served on. Lancaster <br />wished her god luck on her next adventure. Quandt asked her what <br />the most controversial issue she worked on and Abernethy stated <br />moving the extension office to College Park, building the weed <br />department new building and the vote on the 1-80 interchange. He <br />also thanked her for her service. Stelk stated that Abernethy <br />has been a good teacher Stelk made a motion and Landis seconded <br />to accept the resignation. Hartman, Lancaster, Landis, Long, <br />Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none voted no. Abernethy <br />abstained. Motion carried. <br /> <br />APPROVE RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING COUNTY SUPERVISOR IRENE ABERNETHY: <br />The resolution was read by County Clerk Marla Conley and Quandt <br />made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve resolution 98- <br />0067 Recognizing County Supervisor Irene Abernethy. Hartman, <br />Lancaster, Landis, Long, Quandt and Stelk all voted yes and none <br />voted no. Abernethy abstained. Motion carried. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #98- ('1IO~ '1 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING COUNTY SUPERVISOR IRENE ABERNETHY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on October 23, 1998, Hall County Supervisor Irene Abernethy submitted her resignation <br />from the office of County Supervisor for Supervisor District Seven, Hall County, to serve as a member of the <br />board of Hall County School District Number 2 ; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, for nearly twenty years Irene Abernethy dedicated herself to the service of her district and <br />the county as a member of the Hall County Board of Supervisors; and <br />
