<br />'7 y ;: C9 OZ3;;:J.. <br />has a value of less than $100, when the last registered owner cannot be ascertained, or when the <br />last registered owner fails to claim the vehicle within five days from mailing notice that said <br />vehicle has been recovered. Except for vehicles having a value of less than $100, vehicles for <br />which title vests in the local authority must be sold by the local authority and the proceed thereof, <br />less expenses, must be held by the local authority for the benefit of the owner; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the local authority is permitted to recover the expenses incurred by the local <br />authority, including the costs of removal and storage. <br /> <br />NOW BE IT RESOLVED as follows: <br /> <br />1. The Hall County Sheriff is assigned responsibility of performing the obligations of the County <br />of Hall with respect to abandoned motor vehicles; including the removal, notification of <br />owners and lienholders, and disposition of motor vehicles abandoned within the <br />unincorporated areas of the County of Hall. <br />2. Any proceeds from the sale of an abandoned vehicle less expenses incurred by the sheriff's <br />department shall be held by the County Treasurer, without interest, for the benefit of the <br />owner of such vehicle for a period of two years. If not claimed within two years, said <br />proceeds shall be paid into the general fund of the County. <br />3. The last registered owner of an abandoned vehicle shall be liable for the costs of any expenses <br />incurred with respect to said vehicle, including, but not limited to, the cost of removing and <br />storing the vehicle, providing notice to the owner and lienholders, and advertising and <br />conducting a sale of the vehicle. <br />4.
