They need to review <br /> these applications and loak at all of the churches and schools that have exemptions. <br /> The vate on the motion ta approve the exemption applications was held. Arnold, L.ancaster, <br /> McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON EXEMPTION APPLICATIQNS FOR: <br /> 1. United Congregational Church <br /> 2. Church of Gad of Prophecy <br /> 3. Platt Duetsche Verein <br /> 4. Hall Caunty Sheriff's Posse Assn <br /> 5. GI Fed of Labor Bldg Assn Inc. <br /> 6. Grand Island Kennel Club <br /> 7. Centro Cristiano Int Dios Es Amor Inc <br /> Ms. Pelland stated that she received a letter fram the property tax assessment division after <br /> they had r�viewed the application and they are asking for additional information on the listed <br /> exemptions. She stated that they sent a letter on March 7th and a second letter on March 26th <br /> asking for additional information. She reviewed the following: <br /> 6. Grand Island Kennel Club sent a letter back stating that they are charitable because they <br /> offer educational activities to the public. They are a nanprafit organization that was formed in <br /> 1965. They conduct training classes for dogs and also train therapy dogs. They wark with <br /> youth and 4 H members and they are requesting the County Board to approve the exemptions. <br /> Arnold noted that they are educating the owners and are non profit and nat competing for <br /> business and he feels that it fits the definition. <br /> 5. GI Fed of Labor Bldg Assn Inc. their letter stated that they provide a place for meetings, <br /> training and socializing for a nominal fee and are filing under charitable. McFarland nated that <br /> they receive a 100% exemption and asked if it could be a partial exemption. <br /> Ziola stated that he thinks they need more information. <br /> Arnold noted that if their primary purpose is to hold meetings for the union and the fees cover <br /> the overhead is that charitable. Discussion was held and the board needs more information and <br /> a letter requesting more information will be sent. <br /> 4. Hall County Sheriff's Posse Assn. Pelland received a letter from them that stated they were <br /> a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1958 ta be of assistance ta the sheriff's department <br /> ta find missing persons and move cattle off of the interstate. They do security work and help <br /> with parking at the Husker Harvest Day site. The members are all volunteers. This was marked <br /> as ag related. Discussion was held and a letter will be sent to them for clarification. <br /> 3. Platt Duetsche Verein —This application was marked as social and that is not an exempt <br /> category on the form. It is also a partial exemption because they do serve alcoholic beverages. <br /> They do donate space to be used for some charitable functions. Discussion was held if it would <br /> 2 <br />
