Mr. Quandt questioned the total cost and Mr. Connick stated that it was $1.9 million. The 1% <br /> sales tax is to sunset in 10 years. They are asking for a letter of support to submit with a grant <br /> application. Lancaster suggested talking to Marlan Fergusan for possible grant infarmation. <br /> Quandt expressed concern that they had to hire a grant writer, and Lancaster stated that Hall <br /> County does not have one. <br /> Schuppan made a motion and McFarland s�canded to authorize the chair to sign letter of <br /> support for the Doniphan �vents Center. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, <br /> Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Chairman Lancaster called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 4. Motion carried. <br /> 9. 11:Op A.M, JON ROSENLUND A) DISCUSSION ON NIMS COMPLIANCE NARROW <br /> BANDING OF RADIOS <br /> B) FEMA 300/�400 LEVEL COURSE INSTRUCTION Jon Rosenlund Emergency Management <br /> Director was present. Mr. Purdy stated that at the NIRMA conference discussion was held <br /> regarding the issue of the FEMA course instruction and if county officials need to participate. <br /> Lancaster noted that she had taken same of the courses. The 3p0/400 course are mostly for <br /> operational and the elected officials need the original caurses. Mr. Rosenlund stated that the <br /> 100 and 200 courses should be introduced to new elected officials and these are available on <br /> line. <br /> Arnold noted that after hurricane Katrina it became a political battle and these courses helped <br /> local government ta be prepared for disasters. <br /> Mr. Rosenlund stated that FEMA will be sponsoring a one week course in February and it will be I <br /> held in Grand Island. He was very impressed with the course and will provide more infarmation <br /> later. <br /> 4 <br />
