County and Senator Dubas stated that the letter from Lancaster County is compelling it has <br /> hard facts and figures and she encouraged Hall County to also provide that type of information. <br /> 6. 9:45 A.M. PUBLIC WORKS BID OPENING FOR V PLOW—Quandt made a motion and Ziola <br /> seconded to open the bids for the V Plow. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, <br /> Schuppan and Ziala all voted yes and none voted na. Motion carried. <br /> The following bids w�re received: <br /> BIDDER BASE BID TRADE IN N�T BID <br /> Nebraska Machinery Co. $25,335.00 $12,000.00 $13,335.00 <br /> Road Builders $25,744.22 $ 5,000.00 $20,744.22 <br /> Quandt made a motian and Arnold seconded to refer the bids to the public works committee. <br /> Mr. Sherlock stated that they will be able to review and come back with a decision. Arnold, <br /> Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> The board held a 5 minute break to review the bids. <br /> 10:Qp a.m. Returned to regular session. <br /> The low bid was from Nebraska Machinery Company. Schuppan made a motion and Quandt <br /> seconded to accept the low bid from Nebraska Machinery Company. Arnald, I�ancaster, <br /> McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> Mr. Quandt questioned how the road prajects were coming. Mr. Sherlock stated that the <br /> w�ather has been decent and Gary Smith Construction has completed 10 miles af averlays and <br /> they have been able to complete some of the armor coating. He reviewed the list af completed <br /> projects. They hop� to be campleted by November 2�d. He stated that this is what we should <br /> do every year to maintain what we have. <br /> $. 1p:�0 A.M. PRES�NTATION BY C�NTRAL DISTRICT HEALTH DEPARTMENT"RETHINK <br /> YOUR DRINK" — Mr. Purdy stated that he attended a presentation given by the health <br /> d�partment and asked if Ms. And�rson would give the same presentation to the County Board. <br /> She distributed information ta the baard members and shaw�d how much sugar was in various <br /> bottles of pop. The power point presentation is to start the campaign to make people aware of <br /> how much sugar there is in sweetened drinks. <br /> 10. TERRY CONNICK— DONIPHAN AREA DEVELOPMENT CORP— DISCUSSION <br /> REGARDING NEW �VENT CENTER (SCHUPPAN) <br /> POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR DONIPHAN EV�NT <br /> CENT�R — Mr. Schuppan stated that the Doniphan Economic Development Corp represented <br /> by Terry Connick is promoting an events center for poniphan. Mr. Connick distributed <br /> information to the board members informing them of the proposed events center for poniphan. <br /> It will house various meeting rooms the City Clerk's Office, a board room, a senior center and <br /> the main hall is 6,800 square feet. They will be able to hold several events at the same time. <br /> The community approved a 1% sales tax for the constructian of the building and they have s�t <br /> aside $100,000.00 for the land.
