Arnold stated that his first respanse would be to not <br /> sign the agreement because they started the work before the agreement was signed. <br /> Casey recommended tabling this i#em far 2 weeks and finding the dollars for the agreement. <br /> Discussion was held and he will check with other counties to see what they are daing about this <br /> agreement. <br /> Arnold not�d that the State of Nebraska Department of Raads mismanagement has caused the <br /> counties to have to wait for the funds. <br /> This will be addressed again in 2 weeks. <br /> 7 ELECTIONS COMMITTEE- UPDATE FROM ELECTION COMISSIONER REGARDING <br /> VOTING PRECINCT CONSOLIDATION — Quandt stated that Election Commissianer Dale <br /> Baker has been working on the nEw boundaries for the voting precincts. Ms Baker statEd she <br /> met with the committee and distributed a new map af the districts and a table showing the <br /> number of eligibl� vaters. There were 25 precincts and naw there will be 18 or 19. The State <br /> legislature made changes on the legislative districts so they started with those �changes to make <br /> the new precincts. By decreasing the number of polling places it reduces the number of ballots <br /> and will save money. Most of the cansolidation is in the city of Grand Island. The polling pla�es <br /> have tv be ADA assessable and have sufficient parking. The polling places will also have to <br /> handle the number of voters that will be using it. It is important to also be an advocate for the <br /> voters and the political subdivision. This may create busier precincts and #here may alsa be <br /> lines, but there has alsa been an increase in the number of early voters. The cities and counties <br /> are all suffering economically so she is trying to make it more efficient.
