From this point it extends <br /> east to Loadline 1 and west to Loadline 2, 3,4 and 5 where the pipe is connected <br /> into each Boilerhouse. It extends southerly from Loadline 1 into the Shop Area <br /> connecting to the Boilerhouse and runs south into the Nitrate Area where it <br /> connects to the furnace at the corner of the building which heats the office and <br /> shop area of a current lessee. The land in which the gas line runs under is grassy <br /> azeas or farmed in row crops. A map of the gas line location is in Fi ug re 3• <br /> The natural gas distribution was installed in 1968 and was operated and <br /> maintained by the Army or it's contractor. The gas line from the valve at <br /> Loadline 1 Loadline 2 west has been shut off since 1995. No maintenance has <br /> been performed on the entire system from over 10 years. . <br /> 2.1 PIPE DESCRIPTION <br /> (a) Steel pipe,weight A, Class 1, 8", 21,675 LF <br /> (b) Steel pipe,weight A, Class 1, 6", 5,853 LF <br /> � Steel pipe, weight A, Class 1,4", 5,373 LF <br /> (d) Steel pipe,weight A, Class 1, 3", 2,621 LF <br /> (e) The depth of the gas line varies from 3' to 10' <br /> 3.0 SURVEY RESULTS AND POTENTIAL CONCERNS <br /> (a) KN Energy,the only gas utility to serve the installation conducted an inspection <br /> for leakage on 24 April 1995. The method of survey was a flame ionization <br /> leak survey, a method which is sensitive to the presence of flammable gas in <br /> the range of parts per million. The results of the survey indicated no leaks were <br /> found on the underground facilities surveyed. <br /> One above ground leak was detected near Building N-17 where a tenant uses the <br /> natural gas for business purposes. This leak was repaired by KN Energy 25 <br /> April 1995. <br /> (b) Surface Soil Samplin� <br /> (1) Draina�e Ditches& Surfaces Depressions - <br /> Samples LLO1-18(Loadline 1) collected from a boiler blow-down pit, <br /> located northwest of Building 1L-27 was analyzed for explosives and <br /> 2 <br />
