99 108017 <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL BASELINE SURVEY <br /> For the Sale of the <br /> Natural Gas Distribution System <br /> Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant <br /> Hall County,NE <br /> 19 September 1997 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Proposed project is to dispose of and offer for permanent sale to a local gas <br /> company the Natural Gas Distribution System at Cornhusker Army Ammunition <br /> Plant. A twenty to fifty foot wide easement will be granted for access to and from <br /> the gas line. � <br /> 1.1 PURPOSE <br /> The Environmental Baseline Survey(EBS)is used to determine whether or not use . <br /> of the property poses a hazard to human health or the environment. The EBS <br /> includes information regarding the storage,release, and/or disposal of hazardous <br /> substances as well as polychlorinated biphenols(PCBs),petroleum products and <br /> their derivatives,asbestos,radon, lead-based paint(LBP), and unexploded ordnance <br /> (IJXO). Information was gathered through technical analysis of existing site <br /> investigation reports and visual inspection of the property. See Figure 1 <br /> 1.2 HISTORY AND SITE DESCRIPTION <br /> 1.2.1 Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant(CHAAP) is an inactive/excess Load, <br /> Assemble and Pack(LAP) facility located near Grand Island,NE. Industrial <br /> facilities are currently being utilized only by tenants for storage and light <br /> ' manufacturing purpose. The plant was declared excess by HQ,AMCCOM, <br /> AMSMC-DCG-PR on 30 January 1989. <br /> CHAAP is located five miles west of Grand Island, in Hall County, South Central <br /> Nebraska. <br /> 2.0 LAND DESCRIPTION/CHAIN of TITLE <br /> The land is nearly level to gently undulating and is located adjacent to the Platte <br /> River Valley. A general area map of the facilities is included as Fi u�e 2. <br /> The natural gas line runs 35,522 LF underground entering at the north corner of <br /> 12`� Street and 5`''Avenue running southerly parallel with 5�'Avenue to the above <br /> 1 EXHIBIT "C" A�'TACHED TO AND MADE <br /> A PART OF DACA45-2-99-6070 <br />
