PROJECT NOTES
(c) Vertical and horizontal separations between telecommunications facilities and other
facilities shall be maintained as required by the NESC Section 32 Underground Conduit Systems.
Conduit systems for telecommunications facilities shall be separated from conduit systems for
power supply systems by:
(1) 3 inches of concrete
(2) 4 inches of masonry
(3) 12 inches of well -tamped earth
Waming Tape
(a) A detectable orange colored cable waming tape shall be placed 12 to
18 inches move, the conduit n the bench.
Hand -holes
{a) All cavities required for cable pulling purpose shall be constructed as
load bearing Hand -holes.
(b) Hand -holes shat be placed at as specified an plans and approved by Viaero_
h no case shall conduit bend radius exceed 180 degrees between structures.
Hand -holes shall be either a 48"x30"x24" precast composite concrete or a 24"x36"x24"
precast composite concrete. Refer to project detail sheet 64 for specifications.
Separations from Other Public Utilities and Drainage Facilities
(a) Parallel separations are required to satisfy standards for utility trenching
excavations and to provide for adequate maintenance operations.
(1) The minimum paraNel separation between telecommunications conduit
and water pipe or drainage pipe and other pipe with a depth of cover of less than
6 feet shall be 5 feet.
(2) The minimum parallel separation between telecommunications conduit
and wastewater pipe or other pipe with a depth of cover of more than 6 feet shah
be 10 feet.
(b) Vertical separation at utility crossings shall be as follows:
(1) The minimum vertical separation between telecommunications conduit
and City public utilities shall be 6 inches.
At crossings of natural and improved drainage ways, and irrigation ditches,
shaN meet the following conditions:
(1) Telecommunications conduit shall be placed a minimum 48 inches below the invert
of the drainage way or ditch. This minimum depth of cover shal apply whether or not the
drainage way 5 an open system or contained within a culvert.
(2) The telecommunications conduit shah be placed it a SDR -11
b accomidate placed conduits. Wien the drainage way or ditch 5 at open system. the sleeve
shall extend a minimum horizontal distance of 10 feet beyond each side of the drainage way, measured
from top of bank to top of bank.
(3) then the drainage way or ditch s it a culvert, and the culvert openings greater
than 5 feet, the sleeve shall extend a minimum horizontal distance of 5 feet beyond each
side of the culvert, or shall extend a minimum horizontal distance equal to the vertical depth of
the culvert, measured from the culvert invert to the final ground surface above the culvert.
LEGEND
u STREET SIGN
j; FIRE HYDRANT
WATER METER
e UTILITY VALVE
R, UTILITY POLE
UTILITY MANHOLE
4 ELECTRICAL HH - TRAFFIC HH
TELEPHONE PED - TELECOM HH
nii PROPOSED VIAERO MANHOLE
c.I PROPOSED VIAERO HANDHOLE
0 TREE
i;p STORM INLET
UNETYPES
.. ...
