Motion carried. <br /> <br />#8 SHERIFF JERRY WATSON APPROVE REQUEST FROM EQUIPMENT <br />ACQUISITION FOR PURCHASE OF NEW VEHICLES: Chief Deputy Rea presented the <br />request to purchase vehicles from the equipment acquisition fund. They are requesting <br />to purchase two 2001 For Crown Victoria and one 2001 Camaro for the SARO officer. <br />The SARO officer is strictly road patrol and the Camaro would work for him even though <br />they do not make good patrol cars when a prisoner has to be transported. Jeffries <br />expressed concern on purchasing another Camaro. Arnold made a motion and Logan <br />seconded to approve the purchase from equipment acquisition for two 2001 Ford Crown <br />Victoria and one 2001 Camaro. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Lancaster, Landis and <br />Logan all voted yes and Jeffries voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2b AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN KENO GRANT AGREEMENTS FOR 200-2001: <br />County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz has prepared the keno grant agreements for 2000 <br />2001 fiscal year. The contracts were sent out last week and the board will need to <br />authorize the chair to sign the agreement once they come back. Jeffries made a motion <br />and Logan seconded to authorize the chair to sign the keno grant agreements. Arnold, <br />Hartman, Humiston, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and Jeffries voted no. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />5a DISCUSS AND APPROVE SELECTION COMMITTEE FOR ENGINEER FOR <br />SOUTH LOCUST PROJECT STPE STPAA 2235(2): The public works director received <br />information from the Nebraska Department of Roads requesting that the County provide <br />a Project Manager to oversee the South Locust project to ensure compliance with all <br />terms of the construction agreement and comply with all the requirements for Federal <br />Funding. The County has two options (1) the county can provide the inspection and <br />staking services utilizing its own forces or (2) the County can select a consulting <br />engineering firm to provide the inspection and staking services. The road department <br />does not have the engineers to do this work and would need to look at hiring an <br />engineering firm to do these services. The costs would be paid by 80% federal funding <br />and 20% county funding. County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz recommended that this <br />matter is referred to the public works committee and they could come back with a <br />recommendation. Jeffries made a motion and Logan seconded to refer this to the public <br />works committee and they will come back with a recommendation. Arnold, Hartman, <br />Humiston, Lancaster and Landis all voted yes and none voted no with Logan absent for <br />the vote. Motion carried. <br /> <br />13. SAFETY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION DISCUSS & APPROVE VETERANS <br />SERVICE OFFICE PROJECT: Chuck Kaufman stated the safety committee <br />recommended that the project to install a partial wall and door for the veterans service <br />office was approved to sped up to $6,500.00 At the time of the meeting he only had one <br />proposal but he has now received two proposals. The low bid was for $3,500.00 and he <br />would like authorization to accept the low bid from Terjak Construction. Jeffries made a <br />motion and Landis seconded to accept the low bid from Terjak Construction and proceed <br />with the construction of the wall and door for the veteran's service office. The Veterans <br />Service office has had some problems in the past. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, <br />Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and Jeffries voted no. Motion carried. <br />
