Chairman Hartman stated that he appointed Bud Jeffries to <br />attend the meetings to keep the county board updated. <br /> <br />Bill Stoval with the Hall County Airport stated that there are serious problems with the <br />high water table at the airport and they are looking at various options to solve this <br />problem. The high water table is causing the runways to disintegrate. Mr. Stoval and <br />Mr. Hulme contacted a firm in Kansas City to assist with this project and investigate if <br />there may be federal or other grants available to assist with the cost. They stated they <br />have looked at using the Wood River Warm Slough or piping the water into the Platte <br />River. They reviewed the various proposed options for this project. <br /> <br />11 :05 a.m. went back into executive session <br /> <br />11 :20 a.m. Jeffries made a motion and Humiston seconded to go out of executive <br />session. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted <br />yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Arnold made a motion and Humiston seconded to present the personnel evaluation to <br />Max Boerson. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all <br />voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMENCE THE AUDIT OF THE MONTHLY CLAIMS: Logan made a motion and <br />Jeffries seconded to approve the claims as audited but to hold the claim for JIL until the <br />next meeting and to verify if the Head Start funds have been transmitted. Arnold, <br />Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted <br />no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />The public works committee met and recommended that the public works department <br />use all of the bids submitted to purchase the necessary culvert. Landis made a motion <br />and Jeffries seconded to accept all of the bids. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, <br />Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />BOARD ASSISTANT'S REPORT: Stacey Ruzicka stated that Emulsified Asphalt would <br />be having a grand opening this week. County government day is scheduled for <br />November 27. The board members need to set a work-study session for the county <br />surveyor interview. This will be held on September 11, 2000 at 5:00 p.m. The <br />appointment will be made on September 12, 2000 at the regular board meeting. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS: Logan - no report <br /> <br />Jeffries - no report <br /> <br />Lancaster - She reported that Hall County has received another "Golden Shovel Award" <br />for the expansion of the Platte Valley Industrial Park. She also stated that Senior <br />Citizens thanked the board members for the new cab tickets with the two cab companies <br />names listed on them. She stated that the transportation committee at the Museum is <br />working on the restoration of the train, which is a two-fold project, the train engine and <br />the railroad cars. They also have a grant consultant working on obtaining grants for the <br />train projects. <br />
