<br />r2000036t <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING JULY 25, 2000 <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met form adjourned session and by published call <br />in the County Board meeting room, 121 South Pine, Grand Island, Nebraska, July 25, <br />2000 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Hartman. <br /> <br />Invocation was given by Rev. Lonnie Logan. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL: Present on roll call were Scott Arnold, Richard Hartman, Bob Humiston, <br />Bud Jeffries, Pamela Lancaster, Margaret Landis and Lonnie Logan. Also present were <br />County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz and new media representatives form the Grand Island <br />Independent and KRGI. <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION OF HALL COUNTY WEED CONTROL BOARD MEMBER: Chairman <br />Hartman stated that the County board met in a work-study session to interview the <br />applicants for the weed board position July 21 at 5:00 p.m. Mr. Wayne Swadley was <br />selected to fill the position on the board. Mr. Hartman welcomed Mr. Swadley and <br />informed him of the meetings. <br /> <br />Jeffries made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve the appointment of Wayne <br />Swadley to the Hall County Weed Control Authority Board. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, <br />Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COUNTY. ATTORNEY - 2a DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION WITH RESPECT TO THE <br />SALE OF ONE-HALF INTEREST IN THE FORMER SOUTHERN PUBLIC POWER <br />DISTRICT BUILDING TO THE CITY OF GRAND ISLAND: The board offered the <br />building to the City of Grand Island and the City accepted the county's offer. County <br />Attorney Jerry Janulewicz stated that there is nothing in writing and the paperwork will <br />need to be prepared if the County Board accepts their offer. Logan made a motion and <br />Lancaster seconded to approve the sale and authorize the Chair to sign the documents. <br />Arnold Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and <br />none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2b. CONSIDER & TAKE ACTION WITH RESPECT TO FAIR HOUSING POLICY: <br />County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz stated that he was contacted by the Nebraska <br />Department of Economic Development concerning the fair housing policy. As a county <br />entity the county does not have a policy and Stew Jobes with the Nebraska Department <br />of Economic Development stated that we will need to comply with this policy in order to <br />proceed with the economic development grants. He was provided with a list of various <br />items that could be used to comply with this. The board instructed him to proceed with <br />the plans to comply with this request. <br /> <br />2c CONSIDER AND TAKE ACTION REGARDING AMENDMENT OF AGREEMENT <br />WITH THE NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF ROADS BURLINGTON DEPOT PROJECT: <br />The Hall County Historical Society is receiving ISTEA funds for upgrading the Burlington <br />Depot and they need additional time to upgrade the depot. This is a supplemental <br />agreement for this project. Jeffries made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve <br />the agreement and authorize the Chair to sign. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, <br />Lancaster, Landis and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br />
