<br />~01259 <br /> <br />1a APPROVE PROCLAMATION FOR TOURISM WEEK: Convention Visitors Bureau <br />director Renee Seifert was present and she introduced her staff Trish Beem and Nancy <br />Nickels. They were requesting the County Board to approve the Proclamation for <br />Tourism Week for May 6th to the 12th. Ms. Seifert stated that there was a slight decrease <br />in the attendance for the spring migration because of the weather but they have seen a <br />25% increase over the last year. She stated that she is pleased with the new marketing <br />campaign, and the Grand Island Convention Visitors Bureau has been working with <br />surrounding counties. They have a good partnership and want to bring Grand Island <br />and Hall County to the forefront for tourism in Nebraska. May 9 they will be holding the <br />tourism luncheon and they will include a 1999-2000 overview she encourage the board <br />members to be sure and attend. Ms. Siefert stated that Pamela Lancaster is the liaison <br />for the county board and attends the meeting and reports back to the board of <br />supervisors. <br /> <br />Lancaster made a motion and Arnold seconded to approve Resolution #01-0032 the <br />proclamation for tourism week May 6th to 12th. Arnold, Eriksen, Hartman, Humiston, <br />Lancaster and Logan all voted yes and none voted no with Jeffries absent. Motion <br />carried. County Clerk Marla Conley read the following resolution: <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MAY 6-12, 2001 TO BE HALL COUNTY TOURISM <br />WEEK <br /> <br />RESOLUTION # O~ OO~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the tourism industry is extremely important to the State of Nebraska <br />and to the county of Hall by contributing to local employment, economic prosperity, local <br />pride and trade; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we all benefit from the effects of tourism; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, tourism promotes intercultural understanding and appreciation of the <br />geography, history and people of Nebraska; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, with a strong economy, personal incomes and leisure will increase <br />more rapidly. Tourism, therefore, can be expected to play an even greater role in the <br />lives of all Nebraskans. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Hall County Board of <br />Supervisors that May 6-12 in the year 2001 to be <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY TOURISM WEEK <br /> <br />and we call upon the people of Hall County to observe such week with appropriate <br />ceremonies and activities. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this 8th day of May, 2001. <br />
