She also served as a nurse administrator, a consultant for a <br />health care facility and served as an administrator of the Minnesota Nursing Association. <br />She started he own consulting company and moved to Arizona and now has moved to <br />Grand Island. Jeffries expressed his concern that the health department has had five <br />directors and he said he would like to see some continuity in the department. Hartman <br />stated that there have been problems with the health department and communication <br />needs to be improved. Lancaster thanked Ms. Simpson for coming and welcomed her to <br />Grand Island. <br /> <br />6.10:00 A.M. EXECUTIVE SESSION CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS: Humiston made <br />motion and Logan seconded to go into executive session for contract negotiations. <br />Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Logan all voted yes and none voted <br />no with Eriksen absent for the vote. Motion carried. <br /> <br />10:00 a.m. Executive session <br /> <br />10:30 a.m. Jeffries made a motion and Humiston seconded to go out of executive <br />session. Arnold, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Logan all voted yes and <br />none voted no with Eriksen absent for the vote. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COUNTY BOARD ASSISTANT'S REPORT: Stacey Ruzicka included a performance <br />appraisal in the board members packets and she requested that they return them to her. <br />She did not have any other items. <br /> <br />BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS: Logan - He stated that he wanted to thank the Grand <br />Island Independent for their coverage regarding the jail issue. He attended the long- <br />range-planning meeting. He also attended the merit commission meeting. The building <br />and grounds committee is working on the courthouse project for the ADA accessible <br />bathrooms. He also requested that the video for the board meetings should be checked <br />out and maybe the board should look at some better equipment. The broadcast of the <br />board meetings is terrible and if it is broadcast it needs to be better. <br /> <br />Jeffries - He attended several public works committee meetings and met concerning the <br />I project for the sewer system for the county park. The building and grounds department <br />is working on the courthouse restrooms. Jeffries also stated that the articles in the paper <br />have given good coverage and from the comments he has heard the community wants <br />to build a large jail. <br /> <br />Lancaster - She stated she met with juvenile committee concerning the grant <br />application. Midland Area Agency on Aging will be taking applications for a new director. <br />She also attended a Workforce Development meeting and one-stop is moving forward. <br /> <br />Arnold - He attended the computer committee meeting and the crime commission <br />meeting. He reported that he attended the first grant review and it went well. He <br />attended the Midland Area Agency on Aging meeting and the long-range planning <br />meeting. He also stated that the paper has done a good job stating the facts on the jail <br />but he also pointed out that the down town site does not include the cost of the land and <br />a large jail will require a good sized piece of land and the cost of the land will be <br />expensive. <br />
