JAN PELLAND COUNTY ASSESSOR a. SET DATES FOR BOARD OF <br />EQUALIZATION FORMAL HEARINGS b. APPROVE USE OF REFEREES AND <br />ADVISE OF DATES: Jan Pelland, County Assessor asked if the board wanted to use the <br />referee system and requested that they set the dates. Lancaster made a motion and <br />Arnold seconded to approve the use of referees for the board of equalization protest <br />hearings. Arnold, Eriksen, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Logan all voted <br />yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> <br />SET DATES FOR FORMAL BOARD OF EQUALIZATION HEARINGS: Discussion was <br />held on the hearing dates. Lancaster made a motion and Arnold seconded to set the <br />dates for the formal board of equalization hearings for July 16, 17, and 18. The final <br />action on the protests will be taken at the regularly scheduled board meeting on July 24. <br />Pelland stated that the times of the hearings could be set at a later date. Arnold, Eriksen, <br />Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Logan all voted yes and none voted no. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />7 CHUCK KAUFMAN PARKS/BUILDING & GROUNDS DEPARTMENT <br />RECOMMENDATION ON BID OPENING FOR SKID STEER LOADER: The building <br />and grounds committee met and requested that Chuck Kaufman and Rick Stepanek test <br />drive the loaders before a decision was made. Kaufman stated that he sent a memo to <br />Jeffries, the chair of the committee, and recommended purchasing the New Holland skid <br />steer loader. This was not the low bid, but he stated that there were several items that <br />justified the purchase of this loader. It has a longer dump reach, the safety configuration <br />allows the boom to be locked when someone is in the cab and it also offers better <br />stability while going up and down inclines. Arnold questioned why the low bid was ruled <br />out. Kaufman stated that after driving the machines, the New Holland machines was the <br />best choice. Jeffries stated that the committee was split on a decision between the New <br />Holland and Bobcat machines. The committee discussed this in length and accepted <br />the recommendation to purchase the New Holland machine. Hartman also supported <br />
