Motion carried. <br /> <br />PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chairman Lancaster called for public participation and <br />Howard Maxon stated that if the county is seeking a consultant for the jail project they <br />might want to contact the Nebraska Association of County Officials or the National <br />Association of County Officials for assistance. <br /> <br />Linda Graham requested to speak to the county board concerning the relocation of the <br />District 8 Probation Office. She stated that the office has listened to the various <br />proposals and the discussion and she would like to express her concerns on relocating <br />the office. A large sum of money has been spent on the computer wiring and it would be <br />very expensive to do this over. The space that the county attorney will be vacating <br />would be would be perfect. Why does the health department need to be down town? <br /> <br />Logan stated he appreciated their patience and hopes that this can be settled. <br /> <br />Eriksen asked Carol Brown what his opinion was and Mr. Brown stated that it would <br />make better sense for the probation office to stay where it is. <br /> <br />Arnold expressed concern that it appeared that the board was short sited concerning the <br />amount of space that they were looking at. The health department may not be served <br />well in the attorney building and then the county would have to spend additional dollars <br />to lease other space. <br /> <br />Lancaster sated that the space that was to be leased was only temporary. <br /> <br />6 BUILDING & GROUNDS RECOMMENDATION - DISCUSS & APPROVE DRIVERS <br />TESTING OFFICE SPACE - Jeffries stated that the building and grounds committee <br />met with the Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles concerning moving drivers <br />testing and the installation of the new digital drivers licenses. The space that will be <br />vacated by the county attorney child support division will be available and the state <br />agreed that this space would be sufficient. Jeffries made a motion and Hartman <br />seconded to approve moving driver's testing to the first floor. Arnold, Eriksen, Hartman, <br />Humiston, Jeffries and Lancaster all voted yes and none voted no with Logan absent for <br />the vote. Motion carried. <br /> <br />7 DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON REQUEST FROM CITY OF GRAND ISLAND TO <br />DUMP SNOW ON COUNTY PROPERTY - Jeffries made a motion and Eriksen <br />seconded to approve the request from the city to dump snow on the county property. <br />Arnold suggested that the snow be dumped further to the west in case the county would <br />want to move dirt. Building & Grounds Director Chuck Kaufman stated that this would <br />be fine with the city. Arnold, Eriksen, Hartman, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Logan <br />all voted yes and none voted no.
