<br />(03i~B"'j <br />~ - Ii <br /> <br />13. SPECIAL ASSESSMENT PAYMENT - This item is to be tabled until after the <br />November 18. Business Improvement District meeting. <br /> <br />PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chairman Lancaster called for public participation and <br />Louise Miller, 1104 West Charles, Grand Island, requested to speak to the board. <br />She questioned how Mr. Molina could have a couple of attorneys for his defense. Arnold <br />stated that he might be receiving representation from the public advocacy agency. <br /> <br />18 LOUIS STIENKE SENIOR CITIZENS REQUEST FOR HANOI BUS - Lois Stienke <br />with Senior Citizens was present and she stated that the Nebraska Department of Roads <br />contacted her concerning additional funding that may be available for the purchase of an <br />additional handi bus. She stated that they have a new bus that is coming and that this <br />would not arrive until after July 2004, so it could be budgeted for the next fiscal year. <br />She is requesting the board to approve the application to reserve the funding for Hall <br />County. This will be an 80 - 20 match for the funding. She expressed concern on the <br />maintenance that is required on the old buses and that the maintenance could exceed <br />the cost of the 20% match for a new bus. She stated that residents in the rural areas are <br />using the handi bus more and they have a good system. Senior Citizens have five <br />buses. Ms. Stienke also questioned how she would have to dispose of the old bus. <br />Lancaster stated that she could contact County Attorney Jerry Janulewicz concerning <br />the disposal of the old bus. <br /> <br />Jeffries questioned what the total cost of the buses and Ms. Stienke relied that they are <br />about $45,000.00. She stated that they are a very heavy-duty bus. <br /> <br />Jeffries made a motion and Humiston seconded to approve the request for the new <br />handi bus for the 2004 fiscal year budget. Arnold, Eriksen, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster <br />and Rye all voted yes and none voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Jeffries made a motion and Eriksen seconded to authorize the chair to sign the <br />application for the handi bus. Arnold, Eriksen, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Rye all <br />voted yes and none voted no, with Hartman <br /> <br />Mrs. Stienke stated that she would get a copy of the application to the county. <br /> <br />9 HOWARD MAXON EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR a. DISCUS & <br />APPROVE CONTINUED FEDERAL FUNDING - Emergency Management Director <br />Howard Maxon stated that he received the invitation for the continued federal funding in <br />the amount of $50,000.00. This is the application process and he will submit the entire <br />budget to the state and after their consideration it will be awarded. He is requesting <br />approval and authorization for the chairman to sign the application. <br /> <br />Jeffries made a motion and Rye seconded to authorize the chair to sign the application <br />for the continued funding. Arnold, Eriksen, Humiston, Jeffries, Lancaster and Rye all <br />voted yes and none voted no with Hartman absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />9 b APPROVE REQUEST TO SELL SURPLUS PROPERTY - Mr. Maxon stated that <br />Emergency Management owns a 1987 Ford sedan that needs to be disposed of it was <br />an old police car and does not run because of an electrical problem. He would like to <br />know how to dispose of it. Jeffries stated that he should check with other agencies and <br /> <br />2 <br />
