HALL COUNTY WEED CONTROL <br /> ROBERT SCHULTZ - SUPERINTENDENT <br /> 2807 W 2ND ST GRAND ISLAND, NE 68803 <br /> PHONE: 385-5097 <br /> 8-3-2026 <br /> The Hall County Weed Board met on August 3, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. for the monthly <br /> meeting. Members present were Wayne Foster, Chad Gideon, Gary Jacobson, Don <br /> Shuda, Mitch Binfield and Rob Schultz. <br /> The meeting opened at 9:00 a.m. The minutes were approved with a motion by Gary. <br /> Wayne seconded. Motion passed. <br /> Claims for July were read and approved with a motion by Chad and seconded by Mitch. <br /> Motion passed. July expenses to date are: $7,149.54 and income was $0 <br /> Public Participation: None <br /> Old Business: <br /> • Platte River Resilience Fund—fund raising continues for phragmites control <br /> along the river. Currently there is about $1.6 million in the endowment fund. <br /> • The Weeds of the Great Plains Books were delivered on pallets and are being <br /> stored here. They are available for distribution. <br /> • The Northern Plains Weed Management Symposium is August 24-26 in <br /> Washburn ND. Rob will be presenting on phragmites at that meeting. <br /> New Business: <br /> • Rob went over his monthly report. <br /> • Rob will attend Fall Continuing Education Training August 5th and 6th in <br /> Kearney. <br /> • Rob has been spraying on days when weather allows and doing inspections for <br /> phragmites. There was a courtesy letter sent out to about 160 landowners that <br /> have upland phragmites. <br /> • Leon from PLP Unlimited, gave a presentation on the spraying he has been doing <br /> here in Hall County with the airboats. <br /> • The NWCA is working on a new weed mapping system through MIPS if it is not <br /> too expensive. <br /> • The State Fair is August 28- Sept 7. The NWCA will have a booth again. <br /> • Husker Harvest Days is Sept 15-17. <br /> • PVWMA Update: airboat, drone, and helicopter spraying has been taking place <br /> on the Platte River. Landowners have been picking up cost share herbicide to use <br /> on their properties along the river. <br /> A motion to adjourn was made by Wayne and seconded by Gary. Motion carried. <br /> The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 9 a.m. <br />
