9:05 a.m. Held a Board of Equalization meeting. <br /> 9:17 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular <br /> meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chair Peterson called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> Quandt noted the passing of Kent Bowden and noted all his contributions to the <br /> community . Kent was always there and did a lot for the Tri Cities. <br /> 5.JAMIE PARR— PRESENTATION ON THE NEBRASKA STATE FAIR—Jamie Parr and <br /> Cortney Glock were present Jamie noted the following. <br /> • The fair runs from August 28th to September 11 <br /> • Noted the ARPA project that have been completed <br /> • Attended the Great American State Fair in Washington DC June 25 to July 10 <br /> • Attended 10 other Nebraska county fairs <br /> • Noted the Nebraska State Fair Board of Directors has 3 members <br /> • The Nebraska State Fair has 16 full time employees <br /> • There are 2 annual events the Nebraska State Fair and the Aksarben stock show <br /> • Noted the 250th Anniversary activities <br /> • There are competitive exhibits on various 4H and FFA exhibits on Livestock and Equine <br /> • Noted other actives Nebraskappella, chicken and rooster calling, cruise-in car show <br /> bands, antique tractor, cheer and dance , free shows, strolling entertainers and ground <br /> attractions, and of course fair food and shopping <br /> Richardson said she was glad to see the fair tickets available she uses them for <br /> Christmas gifts. <br /> Quandt noted the concrete parking and the grading Jamie said this will be much nicer. <br /> The board thanked her for coming. <br /> 7 E) PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE — Don Robb was present and they are grading One R <br /> Road. They are working with the City of Cairo and getting the grading done. They are <br /> cleaning out ditches on Capital. They are also working on the replacement concrete on <br /> Independence Avenue they have to remove and replace it the heat buckled concrete. <br /> They should have it done by the end of the week. They have all the mowers out mowing <br /> road ditches. He has a meeting scheduled for the overlay on Rosedale Road and <br /> should have an interlocal agreement ready for the next meeting. Jane pointed out the <br /> Bismark Road looks good. Discussion was held on an asphalt overlay they hauled in <br /> asphalt but it was so hot the asphalt was sticking to the tires. <br /> FACILITIES UPDATE - Loren reported that they are working on the attorney building <br /> and have been able to do the work in house. They should be done this week. <br /> Loren ask about the flagpole that is on the Pine Street side of the Administration <br /> Building. When the construction is done, he ask if the flagpole should be moved to the <br /> 3 <br />
