She does not want to drag Randy into this discussion <br /> Mike Ponte said that the board approved this, the money is to be used for veterans the <br /> and it is money is being used to make sure this cemetery is completed the way we <br /> want. <br /> Richarson said she remembers that Gary supported it was stated that the board does <br /> not have any control over these funds. It was under the control the veterans' committee <br /> and questioned if the board can vote on this. She does not want to change how we do <br /> business we need to make sure we have the power to do this. <br /> County Attorney Marty Klein said it needs to be determined if the Hall County board has <br /> the power to decide how the dollars are spent, but that that power on how to spend the <br /> money was delegated to another board. The county board could choose to not send <br /> the money or they can choose to leave the decision making to the board or vote to take <br /> that authorly back. The board would have to withdraw the authority that was given to <br /> the veterans committee. <br /> Quandt said Don did a good job to make sure the $750,000 was spent correctly but now <br /> there is an administrator at the cemetery The $600.00 was to pay don Shuda to <br /> oversee the cemetery. <br /> Peterson said there is no action item to vote on. <br /> Sorensen ask Mike if he know where the funds are at now. What is collected from the <br /> other counties. Mike said it is about $80,000 from the other counties. <br /> Lancaster this was addressed a couple years ago. We need to look at the contracts. It <br /> was going to the general fund and the other counties were concerned. The other <br /> counties should not fund the Hall County budget. Our operating costs have not <br /> increased because of other contracts. <br /> Don said we have had the Howard County contract since 1996. All of the furniture was <br /> from the other county funds and he has only had a $300.00 increase on his operating <br /> expenses. Don said Gary tried to ruin the contract concern that Gary has an issue with <br /> him. <br /> Lancaster said the contracts have enhanced what we can do for veterans and noted the <br /> millions of dollars that come to the county for the veterans. They do a good job on the <br /> paperwork, and it help the veterans. <br /> Don said the caroline is not done it needs to be finished and there needs to be the <br /> ability to put another flag on the one flag pole. <br /> 10 <br />
