looked at they already were approve for Tif so could not have exemption as well, Kristi
asked the board to deny the exemption for those reasons. Quandt made a motion to
approve the denial for the exemption of the Friendship house inc. Lancaster seconded
the motion. Bredthauer, Hurst, Quandt, Lancaster, Peterson, Richardson and Sorensen
all voted yes, and no one voted no. Motion carried.
6. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING COUNTY ASSESSOR WORK
VEHICLES -Kristi Wold stated they basically are down to one working vehicle it an old
crown Vic, two others the transmissions are going out, and the other one will not hold a
charge. Peterson stated they would send email to the departments and see if anyone
has a car not being used at this time. Kristi stated they would need center consoles with
charging ports for the field equipment they use to work. Peterson stated they would do
some checking on it. Sheriff Berlie also stated he would check with his dept and see if
they have any that they are getting ready to get rid of.
7. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING ADDITIONAL TAX DUE TO THE
CITY OF WOOD RIVER FOR ANNEXED PROPERTY-Lancaster stated she was aware
that the paperwork was going to be coming through, she invited Greg Cramer to come
forward. Lancaster stated they are seeking prior years of taxes from the three years
they could go back as per state statue.
Greg Cramer, mayor of Wood River, stated it would be years 2017 through 2022 in
amount of$78,947.67
Peterson stated this was an addition to the $54,000 they are getting
Greg stated after he was at the meeting 2 weeks ago he had a city council meeting that
night and he added an emergency action item, went into closed session and the council
discussed what had gone on, he basically wanted to clear the room as some people
don't know what is going on. After a closed session they went back into open session
and they voted to proceed with all means to recoup their tax loss from 2017 through
2022, it is a loss but they felt if they did not try and the get tax money the homeowners
that are going to get three years, they didn't know that they were not paying enough,
some of those larger houses that are 3 or 4 hundred thousand dollars your talking
$2,000 a year or $2,400 and they are going to have to go back 2 or maybe 3 years for
some, so they are not going to be very happy. Cramer stated if they don't try to get back
this money, he doesn't feel like they would get a fair shake.
Lancaster stated she had heard the council had voted for this so she had called Marty
the Hall County Attorney as she didn't want him to be caught off guard, she wasn't sure
how they would proceed with this because there are no actual tax dollars for us to pay
for this, as they never were collected. Lancaster stated she didn't know if they would
need to look at an official's bond.
Marty Klein stated he did speak with NIRMA and they will react to whatever filing is
made of the County.
