Lancaster made a motion to refer bids to Todd Bahensky for recommendation, <br /> Richardson seconded the motion. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Quandt, <br /> Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes, none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Todd Bahensky recommended Rutt's bid to accept. <br /> Lancaster made a motion to go with Todd's recommendation and accept Rutt's HVAC bid <br /> with a completion date in October 2026, Richardson seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br /> 17 DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO AD ON THE UPCOMING 2026 BALLOT <br /> UNDER THE HEADING "DISSOLUTION OF THE HALL COUNTY WEED BOARD" <br /> SHALL THE HALL COUNTY WEED DISTRICT BOARD BE DISSOLVED AND IT DUTIES <br /> AND AUTHORITY BE EXCERCISED BY THE HALL COUNTY BOARD OF <br /> COMMISSIONERS YES OR NO- Quandt stated in 2012 the board had voted to dissolve <br /> the weed board as it was, it did not pass, the voters did not allow it to happen. He stated <br /> it cost around 3,000 a year for salaries and mileage, he stated the weed board as it is <br /> now antiquated. <br /> Sorensen stated that the weed board has changed a little bit since he started and <br /> realistically there are a total of 11 active weed boards in the State of Nebraska; after <br /> talking with Rob Schultz, he is open to the idea. Sorensen stated since he has been on <br /> the board they have had to appoint 3 members and currently have two vacant positions, <br /> he stated it's not that those individuals on the board don't want to serve, it is just hard to <br /> find those individuals who are willing and capable. <br /> Peterson stated this would give the board a better understanding of what the weed dept. <br /> does. <br /> Quandt made a motion to set a public hearing May 5th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to put the <br /> Dissolution of the Weed board on the ballot for November 2026.
