He was <br /> very easy to work with. <br /> B) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION OF APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF <br /> (50) 8 FOOT MOTOR GRADER BLADES FROM MURPHY TRACTOR EQUIPMENT <br /> CO, INC. FOR A TOTAL OF $8,950.00 — Don said he received 4 good quotes but this <br /> was the lowest quote. <br /> Sorensen mad a motion and Quant to approve the purchase of the motor graders <br /> blades from Murphy Tractor Equipment Co for $8,950.00. Bredthauer, Hurst, Quandt, <br /> Peterson and Sorensen all voted yes and Lancaster voted no. Richardson was absent. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE - Highway Superintendent Don Robb reported that the clay <br /> cap and gravel have been finished on Loup River Road and everyone up there <br /> appreciates it. <br /> Don said they ae digging out ditches and mowing and on 190th and Potash the ditch <br /> was silted in they cleaned it out and the dirt pile was 5 feet by 6 feet they put the dirt on <br /> the road and graded it. They will be cutting trees on Platte River Road. The bridge on <br /> 70th has had the gas line removed and they are cutting the steel pilings. They pumped <br /> out 3 feet of water so it will dry out when VanKirk is ready to start the bridge <br /> Don noted some rough railroad crossings on Husker an Airport roads and they are <br /> working with the railroad to get them fixed. <br /> Don said they will be having their winter preparedness safety meeting next week. They <br /> have some new equipment and to go over so the staff will know where they will be <br /> going and will know the areas where they will be working. <br /> Don said there are 2 bridges on Nine Bridge Road that need addressed. The north <br /> bridge is a 14 foot bridge and it has been rated down to 4 ton it may have to be closed. <br /> He has met with the land owners except for Francis Hannon he was not able to be there <br /> he was at the fair. They are suggesting to remove the bridge and make it a low water <br /> crossing. It is very difficult to get to this bridge and to get equipment there. They are <br /> working with land owners' to see if they can cross their land to remove the bridge. The <br /> land is owned by Platners and they talked to the land manager Bill Wieck. They are <br /> trying to make sure they have everyone involved to address this issue. <br /> Karen noted that a motor grader weighs about 42,000 pounds the bridges are rated at 4 <br /> ton that is 8,000 pounds a load of cattle in a trailer could collapse this bridge it is a <br /> county bridge Don is trying to find a way to fix this bridge. <br /> 4 <br />
