15. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE a LETTER TO THE CITY OF GRAND
ISLAND REGARDING WATER ISSUES ON TRI STREET- Quandt made a motion and
Bredthauer seconded to send a letter to the City of Grand Island regarding Tri Street.
Quandt noted that during the protest process the board had to lower the valuations for
the people on Tri Street. There was enough evidence that that had damage due to the
water drainage issues. He would like to see a letter written to the City, Regional
Planning, and the building department that the county had to lower the valuation.
Lancaster said she supports the process and it would be good to have the schools sit in
on the property valuation protests and see the struggles. She said she support this.
Hurst expressed concern that this is the third time they have come to the county and
questioned why the county is addressing this. The city need to fix the problem. He has
no problem with the letter.
Lancaster stated the property owners may not have the resources. They need to bring
attention to this issue.
Quandt said he is not blaming anyone they need to let the City know what is going on.
Hurst ask what has the city done and Gary said it can be fixed
Karen this was subdivided and this project did receive TIF financing and she suggested
that it should go to Chad Nabity there should be a drainage plan. May be able to give
him some direction.
The vote on the motion to send the letter was taken. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster,
Quandt, Peterson, Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no.
Motion carried.
B. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO AWARD BID OR CULVERTS
Don Robb stated he checked the numbers and the delivery dates noted that Giltner
Road is heavily traveled and would like to address it. They would put down crushed
rock for a good base then it sits for a month he wants to get it done before Harvest he
noted that Ace Easton the bid for project C40(493)the had an early delivery date. He
would recommend ACE Eaton for Project C40 (493) their delivery date is July and
August.
For Project C40 (497) Contech was the low bid and he would like to get this one
addressed before harvest time. Contech was here yesterday and said the delivery date
is the earliest they can do that project and they also looked at the damaged tubes.
Sorensen noted that it will be good to get it done before harvest but our roads are in a
lot better shape than a couple of other counties.
