4B) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING ATTENDANCE HEARING <br /> PROGRAM MOU GRAND ISLAND PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM & COUNTY <br /> ATTORNEY'S OFFICE — County Attorney Marty Klein was present and is requesting to <br /> move forward to consider cancellation of the MOU for the Grand Island Public School <br /> system Attendance Hearing Program. They need to give notice... <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Sorensen seconded to authorize the County attorney's <br /> office to send the notice. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Richardson and <br /> Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. Peterson was absent. Motion carried. <br /> COMMITTEE OR BOARD MEMBER REPORTS - Bredthauer reported she attended the <br /> GIS meeting they are moving forward. She said she called Elaine at NACO regarding <br /> the Summit Carbon pipeline project and if they could condemn land. Elaine said there <br /> were some statutes changed when the issue of the Keystone pipe line came up but the <br /> answer is no the county would not be involved because it is not for public use. This is <br /> per Nebraska State Statute 23-325. They are a private company and private <br /> landowners. <br /> Richardson reported that Stuhr had a record setting day July 4th with 1,115 free <br /> admissions Stuhr received a $5,000.00 grant so they dropped the daily admission. <br /> They did report that attendance has been down 12% and they are not sure why except <br /> that the price of gas could affect this. She also reported that at some of the summer <br /> camps they have had discipline problems with some of the students and had to ask <br /> them to leave they have not had these type of issues before. <br /> Lancaster noted that make sense that private entity cannot condemn land, these are <br /> agreements between private parties. Karen said she will forward the state statutes <br /> regarding this. <br /> EXECUTIVE SESSIONS — Sorensen made a motion and Lancaster seconded to go into <br /> executive session for the following.
