The county has 186 miles of asphalt roads. They will pain the high
traffic roads and the roads that are resurfaced. He also noted that the cost of paint has
gone up. The paint truck is a shared vehicle with Adams and Buffalo County each
county has a person to do the painting.
Richardson made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the purchase of the paint
using state bid contract #15679OC. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson,
Richardson and Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING ROAD GRADER PURCHASE —
Mr. Robb noted that this was discussed at the last meeting and he is looking at the best
interest of the county. There will be additional wear and tear on the machines and the
price will go up. The board had discussed purchasing 6 machines and this would be a
good time to consider this. He read a list of multiple counties that have purchased motor
graders on the state bid. He would highly recommend to purchase machines in the
near future. The machines could possibly be available as soon as April or May of next
year and it could be billed in the next budget year. Colt Shafer said it would be 14 to 18
months. The have a major line set up for the graders.
The total cost of 3 more machines would be estimated at $869,888.00 and each trade in
would be $50,000. They would be able to use the old machines until the new machines
came in. That would leave a balance of$719,888.00 after trade in.
