9:05 a.m. Held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:12 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular <br /> meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION —Theresa Luther requested to express her support for the <br /> Hall County Central Nebraska Drug Court employees. Drug court was started in 1989 <br /> and she stated the supervision officers do incredible work for the program. It has been <br /> here a long time. There are times when they are called out at night to assist a member. <br /> Their loyalty to the program and the participants and Hall County are what makes it <br /> successful. <br /> County Attorney Marty Klein addressed the board and noted that one question that was <br /> ask at the last meeting was what the other counties are willing to do to share in the cost <br /> of a catastrophic illness. He has heard from 2 of the boards and the other two are <br /> meeting this morning. He ask his colleagues to address this as early as possible so he <br /> is asking to wait on this until he hears from the other counties. <br /> Deputy County Attorney Sarah Carstensen ask to wait on catastrophic leave issue so <br /> they can talk to Pam Bourne in executive session <br /> 4 D) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING MOU WITH GIPS FOR <br /> SCHOOL INTERVENTIONIST — Deputy County Attorney Sarah Carstensen stated this <br /> the MOU has been in place for 7 years and have worked with the schools for school <br /> interventionist help with diversion kids while they are in school and assisting kids at <br /> school to prevent them from becoming diversion kids. They hope to do this again but <br /> the funds that the county obtains is not enough to cover the entire year of wages and <br /> insurance they are trying to work on how we can get this accomplished the MOU talks <br /> about the agreement. Sarah read the issues regarding the termination Tthey need to <br /> give notice because they do not have enough funds to cover this. They asking for the <br /> board's positon regarding seeking termination or modification to the agreement. <br /> They have met with Dr. Robin Dexter and the interventionists and they want to continue. <br /> Sarah said she would like a motion to notify the school for the modification or <br /> termination of the MOU with the schools. <br /> Lancaster ask what the financial responsibility is for the county. Sarah said in the past <br /> the grant covered the funding but now the grant dollars will not cover the salary <br /> increases and the insurance <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Quandt seconded to provided written notice of <br /> termination or modification of the MOU and continue negotiations with GIPS. <br /> Marty said they have had a number of conversations with Dr. Dexter to retain these <br /> employees she has another proposal the school will not be surprised regarding this <br /> need to amend or terminate this MOU this is just procedural process with the hope to <br /> continue this program <br /> 3 <br />
