Page 2 <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Finance Committee <br /> Mr. Maser reported. Finance committee met prior to board meeting, approved the check register, and <br /> reviewed the financials. No anomalies reported. The museum narrowed the deficit down since last <br /> month. The education department is down on the budgeted revenue. The largest expenditures for the <br /> month include$1,900 for project construction for the Taylor House, the scanner for the glass plate <br /> negative project, and$3,500 for chairs and tables in the Taylor Store,which will be reimbursed from the <br /> Foundation. Reports will be filed. <br /> Buildings and Grounds Committee <br /> Mr. Deitemeyer gave the report. The committee met on February 3`d. Mr. Craig Lewis was in attendance <br /> to the committee meeting to discuss the Taylor House. He stated that there will need to be two <br /> bathrooms in the house to meet city codes. To meet this demand,the museum will need to install a <br /> raised septic system near the house. Mr. Hochstetler stated that with the projected growth of the <br /> museum, Railroad Town needs to have a large infrastructure change, specifically for the restrooms. With <br /> the suggested septic system there would be the potential to add another public restroom. The updated <br /> Taylor House Plans must be approved by the board before continuing construction. Motion to approve <br /> the updated Taylor Plans,which includes the raised septic system was made by the Building and <br /> Grounds Committee. Motion carried. <br /> Education Committee <br /> Dr. Dexter reviewed the submitted report. The committee has had discussion about the decreased <br /> attendance for HATS classes. Focus will be on the issues as curricula is reexamined and improved in the <br /> years to come. The Summer Adventures catalog has been released. The education department is <br /> focusing on creating more events and workshops for the whole family. <br /> Collections Committee <br /> Mr. Deitemeyer gave the report. The Committee last met on February 8th. There has been a total of <br /> 5,688 artifacts deaccessioned since the renewal project started. <br /> For the month of January, the Committee reviewed 1131 items; 185 for transfer, 179 to destroy, 503 for <br /> auction, and 264 to keep. See list on the Deaccession Proposal form in board packet. The Collections <br /> Committee made the motion, motion carried. <br /> The November 2021 report was tabled at the January 26th meeting to review at this meeting. In <br /> November 2021,the Committee reviewed 353 items; 77 for transfer, 30 to destroy, 144 for auction, and <br /> 45 to keep. See list on the Deaccession Proposal form in board packet. The Collections Committee made <br /> the motion, motion carried. <br /> FOUNDATION REPORT <br /> Mrs. Bonnie Smith briefly reviewed her submitted report over the phone. <br /> EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S COMMENTS <br /> Mr. Hochstetler referred the board to his written report. The museum is on track to make the budget by <br /> the end of the year. The museum has seen more visitors, made more money, and spent more in a 12- <br /> month period. Mr. Hochstetler stated that in the last 14 months, four staff members have passed away. <br />
