BOARD MEMBER OR COMMITTEE REPORTS — Sorensen stated he attended the <br /> Crane Transit meeting ridership is up from last year and they are struggling with the <br /> higher fuel costs and the budget will be tight. The rural ridership is around 10%. They <br /> did run a promotion to encourage people to ride during mid-day for free but when that <br /> stopped the peak rider time did not change. He also attended a meeting with the <br /> Summit Group and learned more about the project but they need to come back to the <br /> County Board with more information. He also reported that some rural residents have <br /> been approached by a company that is promoting wind generators but there is concern <br /> because of the high population and the Crane Trust would have issues with them and <br /> because of the wildlife in Hall County. <br /> Bredthauer attended Regional Planning meeting and there is a new subdivision by <br /> Dollar General in Doniphan. The house study noted that there needs to be 80 more <br /> units a year. MAAA has been advertising for the COVID shots. She also attended the <br /> 911 Emergency Management meeting and Jon Rosenlund reported that with the <br /> increased population growth they 911 calls are increasing and they will need more <br /> staffing at the City 911 center. <br /> Lancaster attended the transit meeting senior citizens manages Crane for the city Bob <br /> McFarland and others attended city council meeting and ask for a budget increase for <br /> this year it was $67,404.00 and next year it may be $174,108.61. There was some <br /> increase for fuel but may not be enough the free rides did not turn out what they <br /> thought it would do Hall County will have an increase will not know. There is also a <br /> concern on lack of drivers and high fuel costs. <br /> Pam, Karen and Jane attended the Emergency Management meeting and the city and <br /> the county collectively will need to address the need for more employees. <br /> Lancaster said that CVB is to help replay the inheritance fund for the cemetery <br /> contribution and it was decided she will give updates and she will report to the county <br /> board the dollars were sent to the state and have been certified by the feds. . <br /> She also said the request to be part of the state deferred compensation plan is on <br /> agenda for the NPERS meeting next Monday. <br /> Richardson reported that Stuhr admissions are 280% higher with 145 admissions. They <br /> will continue the ice skating rink through March. She also reported that the bistro is <br /> open. She attended the Humane Society fur ball and they raised $15,000.00. <br /> Weed Control director Rob Schultz was present, the agreement with Howard County <br /> was approved by consent agenda. <br /> 10:00 A.M. BID OPENING FOR HALL COUNTY 2022 CULVERTS (MATERIAL ONLY) <br /> Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to open the bids for the 2022 culverts. <br /> Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson, Richardson and Sorensen all voted <br /> yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. <br />
