9:05 a.m.Held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:14 a.m. adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular <br /> meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Chair Peterson called for public participation and Matt <br /> McGuire requested to address the board. <br /> Matt McGuire 15346 West Barrows Road Kennesaw, NE addressed the following <br /> • Expressed concern on Highway 30 traffic and noted at night it is difficult to see <br /> someone walking <br /> • Noted the Highway 30 project and suggested to square it up with Husker <br /> Highway and concern on the cost <br /> • Expressed concern on the number of accidents in western Grand Island <br /> • Expressed concern on the washouts at the intersections <br /> • Noted that it is difficult to get tires and have to plan ahead the companies are <br /> behind <br /> • Expressed concern on the speed on Highway 30 and they need to focus on <br /> safety <br /> 5. AUDIT COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION - DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION <br /> REGARDING OVERTIME RATES AFFECTED BY PREMIUM PAY USING THE <br /> SIMPLIFIED CALCULATION METHOD - the audit committee met regarding the process <br /> to pay the overtime. The total amount to be paid out is less than $600.00. The <br /> simplified method could possibly pay employees slightly more. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Sorensen seconded to approve the simplified method to <br /> pay the overtime rates that were affected by premium pay. This could error on the side <br /> of the employee. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson, Richardson and <br /> Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEY 4B) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE <br /> PUBLIC DEFENDER'S UNION CONTRACT— Deputy County Attorney Sarah <br /> Carstensen requested to pull this item she has not received anything from the public <br /> defender union. <br /> 14. FACILITIES —A) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON SIGNAGE FOR <br /> BUILDING INSPECTION/WEED CONTROL BUILDING - Mr. Humphrey stated that he <br /> was ask to bring this back to the board the cost of the proposed signage was $2,129.00 <br /> and there are dollar budgeted for this project. <br /> Peterson said that he talked to Denise and ask about a sign on the highway instead of <br /> on the building and Denise stated that was more expensive but apparently people are <br /> finding the building. <br /> Lancaster ask if there was a less expensive version and they did not find anything else. <br /> 4 <br />
