Sorensen noted that with the dry conditions every day one of the rural fire departments <br /> are called and they have also had 2 house fires because of cigarettes. He encourage <br /> everyone to use extreme caution because of the dry conditions. <br /> Hurst stated that March 17 there will be a drug court meeting. Drug court will be moving <br /> to the state. <br /> 28. Added 2/28/22 8:35 a.m. EXECUTIVE SESSION — JAIL - discussion was held if this <br /> could be an executive session. Deputy County Attorney Sarah Carstensen stated that if <br /> the county were to review the action of our own county employee conduct it would. The <br /> public would have no right to be present. The board controls executive sessions. <br /> Peterson noted you could bring someone in if the employee wants to be in the executive <br /> session. These are to protect their reputations. <br /> She noted that the motion comes from the board and the employee may attend and can <br /> be asked if they want executive session or closed session. They need a brief <br /> understanding and can listen to him. <br /> Mr. Pedrosa was ask to come and it will be addressed under public participation. <br /> Jonathan Pedrosa requested to address the county board. He stated he had submitted <br /> an employment application to the Department of Corrections and went through the <br /> testing and interview process. He was told that his background was in question. Mr. <br /> Pedrosa said that there was a pardon from 1997 the issue was set side this is what he <br /> thought he had to do. He ask if this was the reason he was not good fit. He has gone <br /> to school for this and felt he should have been told beforehand. He does not want the <br /> job but he changed his ways a long time ago to better himself. He wanted to address <br /> the board on this. <br /> Mr. Bahensky Corrections director was present and stated there was some <br /> misunderstandings and would like to talk to Mr. Pedrosa privately. <br /> Lancaster stated she appreciated what Mr. Hurst did. We do not tell department who <br /> they can hire. <br /> He had every right to talk to the board <br /> Butch can come to the board needs to be consistent <br /> Todd talked to the person he is not interested anymore in the job. <br /> 28. EXECUTIVE SESSION — JAIL <br /> 7a — DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING PUBLIC DEFENDER UNION <br /> CONTRACT Sorensen made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to go into executive <br /> session.
