example, if an employee appears to be sick — has a flushed face, appears to be sweating
excessively, is coughing or sneezing,is complaining of headaches, body aches, sore throat,or other
symptoms, the employer can send the employee away from the workplace. The employer should
document the observations and the reason the employee was not allowed to work.
Close Contacts:
The updated guidance from the CDC/CDHD makes a distinction between employees who are up to
date with vaccination and the booster, and those who are not. The CDC/CDHD guidance for up to
date employees is that they may continue to work even after close contact provided that they
wear a mask through 10 days after the date close contact. The CDC/CDHD guidance for those who
are not up to date is that they stay home for 5 days following close contact.
Due to our status as essential employees, Elected and Appointed officials may require employees
who have been in close contact with an individual who tested positive for COVID19 to come in and
work regardless of whether the employee is up to date or not.
While acknowledging the recommendations and allowing for Elected and Appointed officials to do
what is best for their department, Hall County is cognizant of the need for continuity of the
essential services provided by county employees. If the employee is not exhibiting symptoms of
COVID19, the County recommends that Elected and Appointed officials consider allowing
employees to continue working and requiring the employee to wear a mask through the 10th day
following exposure. Social distancing is encouraged. Remote work is acceptable under the same
circumstances as set forth in the section on guidance with respect to positive tests.
Free Vaccinations and Booster Shots:
Free vaccinations and booster shots are available for all employees. For example, employees may
obtain these at the Central District Health Department.
Mandatory Vaccinations:
This continues to be an issue that the County is monitoring.
