Peterson made a motion and Sorensen seconded to approve the claims from MAAA <br /> and Senior Citizens. Bredthauer, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson, Sorensen, Richardson <br /> and Sorensen all voted yes and no one voted no. Quandt abstained. Motion carried. <br /> 9:05 A.M. Held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:12 a.m. Recessed the Board of Equalization meeting the executive session will be <br /> held later. <br /> 4. TONY RANDONE-ROADBUILDERS MACHINERY TO ADDRESS THE BOARD OF <br /> COMMISSIONERS-LANCASTER —Tony Randone requested to address the bids on <br /> the motor graders. He has been in business for 20 years and has called on Hall County <br /> for a long time. He said he was the low bidder and ask why he did not get the bid. They <br /> met the specifications and they were listed as a qualified bidder. He stated he was low <br /> bid and his trade in value was higher and they offered maintenance on the machines. <br /> Lancaster stated that there was report given to the board and competitor was able to <br /> answer some question. <br /> Tony said that they were $11,000 lower and complementary maintenance was included <br /> at about $14,000. . <br /> Sorensen stated it was his recommendations to accept the state bid that was lower. <br /> The state bids are set in June or July and these machine were 2 sizes bigger than the <br /> Komatsu and would have a better trade in value down the road. He stated that they <br /> have good equipment and has used Komatsu equipment. He does not have a problem <br /> with the equipment. <br /> Tony questioned the warranty and stated they offered a higher trade in value. He wants <br /> to build a relationship with the County. <br /> Peterson noted there are not a lot of other counties that use the Komatsu but we do not <br /> have track record on the Komatsu machines. He encourage them to submit a bid in the <br /> future. <br /> Richardson it was different equipment low bid on the specifications and the county went <br /> for a larger piece of equipment. Sorensen said the larger machines met the spec and <br /> the state bid is lower than the Komatsu <br /> Quandt stated he voted no and expressed concern on the cost. There is $11,000 <br /> difference on the machines. They met all of the specifications. He ask Scott if he is <br /> friends. Lancaster called meeting back to order. <br /> Richardson stated that the county is not bound to take the low bid it is up to the <br /> department and the Chair to make a decision and they have the right to do that. The <br /> board made a decision on what they felt was the best bid. <br /> 2 <br />
