COMMITTEE OR BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS — Bredthauer ask if board members <br /> wanted to address changing the job description for the highway superintendent. The <br /> committee work with Sarah Carstensen and they went through the job description line <br /> by line and ask if it was OK to move forward. The rest of the board members agreed to <br /> use the job descriptions and move forward hiring a highway superintendent. <br /> Peterson reported on the Economic Development Advisory Board meeting there were <br /> community members, members from the city and schools and also Brad Fegley was <br /> there. Discussion was held regarding housing it is critical issue and they're 1500 homes <br /> short of the demand. They questioned if there was a way the county could address the <br /> infrastructure for housing developments. It is difficult to build affordable homes. He <br /> also stated that the Central District Health Board did not hold a meeting because there <br /> was not a quorum. They will be opening a testing site for COVID at the health center <br /> with a contracted company this is the company that did the test Nebraska last year. <br /> They will be open 3 days a week and the test results should be available in 24 to 36 <br /> hours. <br /> Bredthauer stated she attended College Park meeting and there is some interest in <br /> some of the space. There was also a redistricting meeting but they do no know where <br /> that will go. She also said she received a call from Gregg Robb regarding the grade all <br /> and motor graders. He told her that there are web site with used equipment that they <br /> want to look at. She read some of the information that she found on the sites and the <br /> costs. <br /> Peterson said this warrants discussion but it may premature until we have a highway <br /> superintendent hired. It does make sense to look at it if a piece of equipment value <br /> goes down rapidly it maybe something to look at. Karen noted some of the years of the <br /> units. <br /> Lancaster stated they also need to look at the other required criteria. <br /> Lancaster said thein the past the county had used a developer discount for new <br /> developments. Discussion was held to look at this. <br /> Peterson said now they use TIF to help with developments. He also said FedEx ground <br /> will be building a facilities with 200 employees and it will be difficult if they do not have a <br /> place to live. He also said New Holland needs employees and they need housing it is <br /> critical. <br /> Lancaster stated she received a letter from Regional Planning regarding TIF financing. <br /> She also said that they may postpone the bid opening for the Airport project because <br /> there are some concerns on the dewatering they will have to work through. <br /> Bredthauer stated she was appointed to a board by the Crime Commission regarding <br /> violent crimes. There has been an increase in this area and they wanted a <br /> representative from this area. <br /> 6 <br />
