IT director Doug Drudik provided information to the board members regarding the
replacements of the server/backup system. He included budget information regarding
this purchase. He was proposing to replace the servers and the backup system
separately but the servers are aged enough they will not support the backup system.
They intended to replace the servers and back up one for one but that is not possible.
Doug said they can implement a Hyper-Converged Infrastructure where a set of servers
act as a cluster group for processing and storage. He provide a diagram showing the
system. He is proposing to purchase VMWare vSan for the proposed HCI solution and
Veeam is the proposed backup system and would be hosted on 4 Dell VXRaiI nodes.
He noted that the 20/21 budget has a total of$167,705.75 for the server/backup
system.
Equipment Improvement Reserve 5-0500 $19,705.78
IT Department 5-0334 $80,000.00
IT Department 5-0501 Equipment & Improvement Reserve Transfer $68,000.00
Doug stated this system is what the budget will allow.
Peterson made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve the purchase of the
system. PUBLIC WORKS — UPDATE SCOTT SORENSEN & KAREN BREDTHAUER
Bredthauer stated they did not have a meeting because of the holiday. She distributed
updated information. They are getting the snow fence up and she expressed concern
about the leaking roof on the road department building. It has been repaired several
times and that gets expensive so they may have to look at replacing it. Discussion was
held on the various roofing options.
There was training on an accident incident program and it was a good class they
stressed the importance of taking pictures when there are accidents and how that has
helped protect from having lawsuits filed.
Sorensen stated that he went to Mid Nebraska Aggregate and they will run the gravel
through a rotary machine to clean it up in order to get the quality of gravel that is
specified in the contract.
Peterson ask about the pitch of the road department roof ad it is a flat roof so that is part
of the problem. He suggested looking at the cost of a better permanent roof or a metal
roof.
Lancaster stated it worth looking at even a rolled roof would be better. They will look at
this.
5
